Hey guys,

Quick question for those at the NVC stage, with your IV and AOS packages sent:

Once you have a scan date, does it show on your ceac.state.gov?

Our package(s) was/were sent about 10 days ago and we almost immediately (this past Tuesday) received an email stating that the AOS documents were missing... After doing some research on this forum, I realized that it wasn't uncommon, even though the said documents had been shipped.

Our lawyers... *sigh*...  keep giving us very generic responses and it's driving me a bit nuts. I try not to be whining and complaining but the lack of a straight, forward answer is getting incredibly frustrating.

They said that they have (re)submitted the documents electronically. Alright, but if the original ones were missing, isn't this going to be a problem since NVC needs originals with actual signatures on them? I fear a checklist coming in several weeks (I'm probably overthinking the whole thing) that would/will make crazy angry if it ever happens.

Just checked ceac.state.gov and it says we must submit documents. I do not know if we have a scan date and i'm torn at the idea of by-passing the lawyers and calling NVC.

Asking for a friend...

Nothing changed for us on the CEAC site when we got a scan date.  We just got verbal confirmation on the phone with NVC for that.  Nothing changed on the CEAC site after the fees being paid and the DS-260 completion until case complete. Also, it said "please submit documents" all the way until we got case complete, which is frustrating.  I called NVC myself even with having a lawyer because I know I am just another client to her whereas this process means so much to me personally.  I don't think it hurts to give NVC a call and see what they say.  Best of luck.

I would recommend that you call the NVC. I hired an attorney but to him I'm just another client. I would've had an interview date by now but I received a checklist because my attorney forgot to submit the most basic info to the NVC (passport copy to be exact). It pissed me off to a level that I can't even describe. So it's better to call them and confirm your documentation.

Thanks,

I wil try to do that... I just need to be reassured.

As you said, we are indeed just another client (which is normal in a way), but to us, it has such a huge and impact !

For some reason I FEAR the potential checklist coming, and that would drive me so mad !

Their system is so badly designed, utterly frustrating!

I think the status changes once your case is picked up for review, but I could be wrong. You can call for the scandate. we submitted the 5th, delivered the 7th and on that next Monday we called and were given the 11th as scandate ( we called in the evening)

or your lawyer should call...and know to call...my lord why don't they just do what they're paid for....

I'm going to call myself, I'm just sick to sit and wait for them to do things.

Seriously, over the course of this process, we have learnt so little from them and only get answers once pressed with specific and targeted questions.

We've talked about it with my husband, if we ever have to review their work after everything is done, it'll be done very objectively and there's a lot of room for progress !

The excitement of the i-130 approval should keep us thrilled, I hate this feeling of frustration and being away from my boo  :-/

Hi guys, this is my first time here as before today I was just a silent reader. I filed a petition for my hubby who is in India on Jan 31 2017 (PD also) and my case was sent to Nebraska Service center. We did get the receipt but that's about it. It's mid Sept now and nothing. Should I be worried ?? I am a US citizen. Appreciate all the help and support you guys are giving each other being on the same boat -most of us.

Alright, called the NVC, the guy said everything was received and under review... date is Sept 12th, but no prediction on how long it will take.

Still weird that the ceac.state.gov website is still mentioning that we need to provide docs.

Call me paranoid, but I'm not exactly satisfied with the answer I got... Good thing my husband is not around, he'd roll his eyes at me.

🤣  I roll my eyes at my wife often....😂 she's really passionate about stuff like this as well. I'm glad the nvc guy reassured you that your docs have been received and it is indeed very weird that they don't change the status, it's nerve wrecking. My wife has had to explain to numerous US citizens that you don't just marry and your spouse can come over to live, they really thought it was that easy😑.

i was told by many vj's member that the ceac.state.gov website would not change till the CC and till then it would ask for the required docs. after CC the website would say "At NVC". I think nothing to worry about this, you are in good shape. My SD is 8/31, still website shows I need to submit required docs.

I got CC last Friday and the entire time it said to "submit requested documents" until the point of CC when it changed to "at NVC". Every time I checked my status I was a little bit skeptical and paranoid, especially because at the time we submitted our docs there were sooo many issues with the ceac site and our physical docs actually reached NVC about a week or two before we were able to submit ds260 and get a scan date... my mind was all over the place thinking that something would get lost in that space of time... Anyway! You have to just trust them that they have it all and let the rest fall into place. I think the date it shows on the case status helped to reassure me a little... Yanno where it says "on x-x-17 we received your form DS-260" or whatever the wording was, I would assume if there has been any update to your case or they begin to review it and you're missing something that the date will change to represent this update.

It really would do them no harm to add in extra case status alerts so that people could actually be up to date with where they are in the process... But sure we all know there are hundreds of logical ideas that we could suggest to improve the process that will never be implemented, unfortunately.

Hang in there and put it to the back of your mind for a few weeks! Honestly the NVC wait from this point on is definitely the quickest. Y'all are nearly at the finish line :)
