@Bikerbride Hello. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by that? Can you please elaborate?

In the form I-864 you are supposed to inform where you have your domicile and if you have address where you live and so. They say that they consider the circumstances of your situation when you send in the form. But how are you doing in that case?

Welcome to the Jan filers!! Does Dublin not do direct consular filing? What a pain! If you had have been up north you could have done DCF with London and gone through this process a lot quicker. I feel for ya! My i130 was approved (not from Nebraska) in June and even im not sure if I'll be moved by Christmas time because the NVC process takes its sweet time too, but im sure to you guys it'll be a damn sight better than being stuck at Nebraska. They need to get that service centre together, it's so unfair. Fingers crossed you hear something soon!

On a slightly related / unrelated note - im up north of Ireland and I so wish I had the opportunity to just drive down to Dublin for my medical and interview ... Nope! Gotta get on a plane and make two separate trips to london for that. Damn governments and their jurisdictions. Anyway, keep us posted!

@LaurenAndBrent | Unfortunately, Dubs doesn't do direct processing any longer. The super giant irony is that my wife is from Antrim, but we couldn't live in the North, because we didn't want to be separated after we got married at Glenariff in December 2012 (as they changed all of UK laws for spouses in July 2012  and we were living in Thailand when we got engaged). So, we're in Kerry for the last several years. As you can see, immigration decisions have dominated our life, ha. :)  It's all a bunch of madness.

@Bikerbride | Don't take my word as gospel as I'm not an expert on it, but usually if you were raised in the States and have a history there, this won't be much of a problem (looking at other historical cases). What I mean is if you are a US Citizen, but you have never actually lived in the States, that is where the issues arise. However, to overcome that, you just need to have paid the last 3 years US taxes which shows your intent to permanently stay in the States. If you make less than 100K/year, you won't actually pay any tax, it'll just be a filing. And you can file for the previous 3 years through loads of different agencies (or go at it alone). It'll usually cost up to 2K to do that with an agency. Google "expat US taxes" and you'll get a load of hits.

For us, I just use my folks' address in Alabama as my permanent address since I've been out of the States for a good few years now.

Good to know. My husband is a born US citizen, but he has been living in Sweden for the last 30 years, (he is 53yrs). He filed taxes for the last four years so that would not be a problem I think. His parents still lives there and we are using his fathers address as a place to stay to begin with.

Oh I see. I haven't filled that form out yet. It's on my 'To-Do' list. I'll let you know how I go.

Is anyone else experiencing the USCIS Case Status app crashing the past couple days? I haven't been able to get on. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it just keeps on crashing. This is the one I've been using? Does anyone use any other similar apps?

I got RFE and I sent the required document. So far I have got only notification that they received my document. Meanwhile my wife is visiting me on tourist visa, may I know please if I can apply for change of status (I-485) rather than sending her back to India? Also how long does it take to approve after sending the RFE evidence to Potomac center.

Any advise would be grateful.

Thanks!

We used the same address we recorded in the form I130, (Question #18: Address in the United States where your relative intends to live.)

@Cadizfornia | Our dates are very close together (we're 25th January) so I'll be following y'all if that's cool. Best of luck with it all by the way. We all seem to be in similar boats for the most part.

@VTiwari | Since your case is at the Potomac Center and they are flying through applications like a fat kid with chocolate bars, I would say don't push the adjustment of status and let her go back to India and then return shortly - if you have kids or something like that then maybe you can consider the next few lines :). The reason I say that is the immigration officer could see the adjustment of status under the tourist visa as "intentional" or "pre-meditated" which would be fraud (technically speaking - as immigration doesn't typically see us as people but merely numbers). :) If for instance, let's say, there was a surprise (let's say a need for counselling because of potential further separation) and you, as a couple, decided that AFTER she arrived on the tourist visa, that you would need to stay together due to the psychological stress, then it could be justified, but it would need to be crystal clear that there was no intention to stay on the initial tourist visa - otherwise, it could be quite risky. What's your priority date/NOA1? Potomac is moving pretty quickly, so it might not be too long for you. That's just my two cents of course though.

@VTiwariI fully agree with @manseca don't do anything that will jeopardise you're wife legal position/status. Don't let what happens in the US politics take control of your sanity/smartness. It's all about the "intent" and when it comes to US immigration you're on the "weak" side, it'll cost you much more pain/stress and money to keep your wife there now. Sending you positive vibes and be patient please, it'll work out. Enjoy your time with your wife💜

How to confirm? What number to call to?

Whats next? Please help.

Ahhhh! Lil update - I had a  VERY last minute tonsillectomy on Wednesday... that's kinda irrelevant but basically im now recovering at home and have been checking the ceac website a few times every day. My husband phoned NVC on Monday which was our 6 week since scan date and they said to check back within a week or two as it was in the review department... When I was in hospital I read a silly horoscope and it said "you will receive interesting news by letter or email on Friday"... Ok so usually im not a believer in all that stuff but it made me smile. Well, guess FRICKIN what! Case complete as of today! No official update yet but the case status has turned to "At NVC" and our AOS section has disappeared. Sooooo excited! Making the pain of recovery so much more bearable right now :D happy weekend everyone!
