Sooo...I mailed out the IV package today. Then, I decided to peruse the VJ forums and discover that I did not know there was a magic NVC wiki guide to not getting a checklist. I just sent everything they asked for (plus a little extra) and crossed my fingers as the postal worker took the package. Now, I'm second guessing everything. I didn't have fancy tabbed/labeled documents. Who knows what other secrets I missed. WOOSAHHH...trying not to panic, but we'd REALLLYYYY love to be able to spend the holidays together. We can't afford a 30 day delay! (Also, my husband might lose it if that happens lol)

I wouldn't worry too much. As long as you filed the package with your aos package and included the cover sheets and followed the guidelines on that. The other fancy things have been known to help people (eg. labels meaning no documents can easily be lost) but there are plenty of people like you who just file a simple but organized pack! :) Best of luck!

Late to this board, but we're January filers as well of this year (2017).

I'm a US citizen petitioning for my wife who is from Ireland. We have been married since December 2012 and currently reside in Ireland with our wee girl. I have been offered a funded research opportunity in water resource management back home in the States - it starts January 2018 so I thought we applied in plenty of time being a year in advance, but apparently Nebraska is where dreams go to die. I won't go ahead of my family unless I at least get the NOA2 so I know we're on the home-stretch, but even getting that before Christmas now seems a faint hope. Any January approvals yet out there?

NOA1 - 25th January 2017

Waiting still as of 12th September 2017

Hi @manseca. I have a very similar situation. I'm a US citizen petitioning my Australian husband, also married since 2012 and currently living in Australia (PD Jan 11, 2016). Still awaiting approval. I called USCIS today just to see if there were any updates on our case, of course the answer was "no". I'll follow your timeline. Good luck to you guys. Hopefully we hear something back soon and you make it in time to keep your new job in the US.

@Giang | I hope you're right! :) I really don't want to miss out on the opportunity, but I also don't trust everything to go smoothly given the USCIS's reputation.

@Liz92 | Thanks for the well wishes; I do hope it all works out alright, my biggest worry is spending so much time away from my wee girl. Hope all's well in Oz. I'm assuming that y'all applied 2017 and "16" was a typo yeah? Otherwise, I've definitely run out of hope, ha. ;) I'll follow along with yours as well and hopefully, we'll all be getting good news before Halloween.

Just of curiousness, how do you comply with the demands of domicile in US when you live together outside US? We are in the same situation livening together in Sweden.

Thanks @manseca. Oh whoops. Sorry yes, 2017. 😉 We're preparing all the things we need for the NOA2 so that when we get approval, we'll have that ready to go. Apparently, the next step can take 11 weeks to process (can be quicker if your area allows you to send the docs online) then another month to get scheduled for an interview. Really hoping to be back in LA for Christmas.

Welcome to the Jan filers!! Does Dublin not do direct consular filing? What a pain! If you had have been up north you could have done DCF with London and gone through this process a lot quicker. I feel for ya! My i130 was approved (not from Nebraska) in June and even im not sure if I'll be moved by Christmas time because the NVC process takes its sweet time too, but im sure to you guys it'll be a damn sight better than being stuck at Nebraska. They need to get that service centre together, it's so unfair. Fingers crossed you hear something soon!

On a slightly related / unrelated note - im up north of Ireland and I so wish I had the opportunity to just drive down to Dublin for my medical and interview ... Nope! Gotta get on a plane and make two separate trips to london for that. Damn governments and their jurisdictions. Anyway, keep us posted!

@Bikerbride Hello. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by that? Can you please elaborate?
