Hi all,

been a minute since I've been here, but I hope you all are well. I have yet to send my docs, due to my wife's inefficient ways, we just now finally got her taxes for 2016 filed. So yeah, I'm not really in a happy mood & I won't even think about it too long. I wish you all a great weekend and hope you guys stay blessed and secured! sending you much love & respect and positive vibes!

Hi there!  I was wondering if you were hiding ;-)

Must say that I am/was in the same state of mind, due to our lawyers taking all their sweet time... and being completely unaware of the concept of proactivity!

Our IV/AOS package will be shipped early next week (of course to add insult to the injury, monday is a US holiday) and fingers crossed for a fast processing.

You have a great weekend :-)

Hi dear!

Thanks, I had an okay weekend, hope yours was great. I was hoping we could've send it our stuff out this weekend, but my wife left the documents at her office, so yeah...I've been pretty much silent all weekend, it's always the best medicine in my case.. I hate depending on people and that's something that will never change. And when it comes to some professionals I simply don't get it, their a special kind of slow...😕

Uh-Oh... Well, like my handsome husband likes to remind me of : let's look at the bigger picture! What's a few extra days in a lifetime? We tend to be a little over sensitive on this topic, and that's normal.

I keep thinking that each added day at this stage pushes the reunion time a little further. It can be aggravating and unnerving, especially when our focus is on all the things that need to be done before the great departure.

We were discussing the topic of our lawyers a few days ago, and were wondering when/how we should let them know about the stuff that made us (me, especially)... a bit upset.

In the meantime, it's lazy time on the couch with a beer... my mind drifting to California where my babe is hanging out on a beach with friends, on this very (and unusually) hot day in the San Francisco bay.

Hi Yeonin,

I hope you guys have your documents sorted and you both get to see each other soon.

I'm having problems filing taxes myself because i keep getting conflicting info. Can you walk us through what happened when you received notice that your case was approved? Also, is your wife living in the US and trying to file taxes there? Reason I'm asking is because I'm living overseas and I was told I only need to file taxes in the US if I'm making over a certain amount (which I'm not). A CPA wants to charge me a ton of money to file them even though I won't have to pay taxes. I'm wondering if it's an actual requirement for this application. Any help on what they do after your case is actually looked at would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

@Liz92 my wife was just here, she left last Wednesday. Lives and works in the US, told her months ago to start collecting her stuff since she's an independent contractor and get the tax stuff sorted, but she's proven to be consistent procrastinator, so we had to spent  $1625 to pay  taxlawyers to file and whatnot, I work in legal & compliance so its absolutely frustrating when you're the beneficiary and stuff like this happens. You are only requiree to send in proof that you've field your 2016 taxes and note the 2014 & 2015 amounts on the Affidavit of Support form using the exchange rates if you're not earning USD's. If I were you I'd contact the Philly office that specifically deals with international taxpayers

The IRS Office in Philadelphia provides international tax assistance. This office is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST and can be contacted by:

  • Phone: 1 (267) 941-1000 (not toll-free)
  • FAX:1 (267) 941-1055
  • Email: Email the IRS
(e-mail is for general tax questions; NOT questions regarding your tax account)
  • Mail: Internal Revenue Service
    Philadelphia, Pa 19255-0725
After we got approved and the case was sent to NVC, I called after 8 days and got my casenumber and Invoice number and from there on filed the choice of agent, paid the fees, did my DS260 and I've been on hold with proceeding for 6 weeks now because of my wife's taxes. Please make sure you get your taxes sorted out as soon as possible, because without that it makes no sense to send in any of y'alls documents.

I hope I've been of help, have a good week ahead. And if you need anything else feel free to drop a note anytime.

@Yeonin You're amazing for taking the time to write that and send all that information. That's very helpful and I really appreciate it. I will be sure to get onto the tax situation. Wishing you both the very best in this whole process. Hope the next stage goes smoothly for you guys. 😊

Hi Please help

1.When I edit my I864 I cannot see the bar code.

2. Do I need to write N/A to all fields with pen, not on computer?

3. Even if I say my mailing address is same as my physical address, I put the same address again in mailing address?

Thanks

1. Yes barcode should be seen.
2. write N/A in all blank places with pen or computer does not matter but make sure Do Not leave any space empty.
3. you can rewrite the same address or write N/A.
