Hi everyone,

I may be getting a bit ahead of myself as I am still waiting to hear if my K1 visa has been approved however I have noticed a lot of the interviews in Australia are done in Sydney. Is that a requirement? I live in Brisbane and I am just wondering if I am going to have to travel to Sydney for it.

Thanks :)

It's just part of the process. Not all consulates are equipped/staffed to process immigrant visas. At least you can interview in your own country (eg. Norwegians and Danes have to travel to Sweden)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

That is a good point, thank you :)

In saying that the flight from Brisbane to Sydney is longer than Norway to Sweden lol

Depends what part of Norway you're from, lol.

Also, you don't have to cross a border. After the interview the consulate keep your passport. In the event of a border closure (usually Scandinavians travel freely), we could be stuck in Sweden.

Anyway, it was not a problem for me - just a little annoying to waste a full working day.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Everyone in Australia applying for immigrant visas, including the dual intent K1 visa, are interviewed in Sydney. Be thankful you are not in Western Australia, as you can get travel the same day to and from Sydney if you want to!! WAers have no option and it costs!!!!

I had no idea... Guess i am lucky.

Question:  I was talking to my Fiancee yesterday about his interview in 5 days (yay!). Just by chance I am visiting him when he is scheduled for his interview and it is the day after I arrive. We weren't sure if I could go to the interview as well?

We think we will be fine either way(fingers crossed) it's an early morning interview so he was thinking I might want to sleep in after travelling for 30 hours.

Anyone know if I will be welcome at the interview?
