Hi all, 

 

This week my wife who has the CR1 visa and I will be traveling to usa. I already packed the passport, the CD, and the visa package. What els we do need? What questions do they ask? And can I be with her through the entire point of entry process when at JFK?

your wife will most probably be moved to secondary inspection, meaning, youll have to give the documents issued together with the visa to the inspector. They might aask a few standard questions but as long as you do not have anything that is in fraud youre both ok

You can probably be with her, though that seems to depend on the airport.

They will take her finger prints, and will confirm her US address in case it has changed.  Our process was very quick, we were done before our lugage was on the carousel!

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Our PoE was also JFK. I have global entry, and entered using that and then went to wait with my husband. When it was his turn we handed over the sealed packet and his passport. We were asked how long we have been married, the guy stamped his passport that was it,  no other questions no secondary.

Congratulations!

We got processed through JFK a month ago.

 

Was very quick. No real questions at all.

The CBP Officer took our package, looked at the screen, asked two questions at most, and said - "Ok, you're done!" 

(Of course, your mileage might vary.)

 

But make sure that the information (mailing address, etc.) in your package is correct because this is the last convenient time in the standard immigration process to correct any of it easily.

 

Our physical and mailing addresses were wrong (one slightly, and the other more massively), but because the CBP Officer did not go over that, we did not realize it until later. Getting it corrected afterwards is/was a real pain, believe me!

you guys were able to go on the same line? I thought it was separate lines for citizens and non citizens.

NOA2 issued date: 8/18/2017   NOA2 hardcopy received: 8/25/2017

Notice from USCIS Sent to NVC: 9/1/2017    NVC received: 9/8/2017

Received case and invoice numbers: 9/12/2017

Choice of Agent DS-261: 9/12/2017

Welcome Letter: 9/15/2017

Received and Paid AOS: 9/15/2017    AOS payment cleared my bank: 9/19/2017 (still shows In Process on CEAC)

Interview Scheduled: Jan 2nd - I managed to get someones canceled appointment the very same day my case status turned to Ready.

Biometrics: Mexico City Dec 27th Medical: Mexico City Dec 28th

Case says READY but consulate says case is not in system, I jumped the gun and booked an interview but they say its invalid until I receive the letter so I might have to cancel it.

Appointment Letter: Flew to Juarez just to get this, its actually 2 letters you need.

Interview Day: Jan 2nd   Interview Result: APPROVED

Tracking Number Received: Via email notice and website the afternoon of Jan 4th    Visa Delivered: Friday Jan 5th Mexico City

USCIS Notice - Green Card mailed: 3/28/18

That's good to know when I do it next year.

I travel international every month and I'm used to just scanning my passport and the customs agent doesn't even have a computer.
