I'm trying to get organized ahead of time here as much as possible. I have a few question regarding this part..

*At what point in the process is Police clearance needed?

*Our concern here is this.. My fiance has her passport birth year about 10 years older than her real age. Thanks to the agency she signed with, they did this in order for her to be able to leave the PI to work abroad (at an earlier age).

*Has anybody else ever heard about this happening before?

*And if so, how can this be corrected before/after the Police clearance documents are needed?

** Another sticking point is that her passport is still in her (previous) married name (now divorced)..

HELP!, any suggestions and or answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Police clearance for the beneficiary is generally needed for the medical and interview, so if you haven't received NOA 2 you still have time, as it will not be needed during the U.S portion of the K-1 process. I think most officers want a police certificate that has been issued within 6 months of the interview, (at least that is for the U.K.) so other regions may be different with validity time frames, but I don't see validity expiring sooner than 6 months!!

She'll likely need to submit the passport page showing her photo/details in order to get the police check, so the age would be an issue since it will differ from her birth certificate (which would probably need to be submitted for the police check too). Again, evidence needed for police checks may have regional differences, but I think they want proof you are who you say you are regardless of region! Is it possible for her to get an entirely new passport issued now? I've never heard of the situation happening, but if she gets a new passport, her last name/age could be corrected :) Could say it's been lost, she wants to update her last name, etc...Maybe it isn't easy, hence you coming on here for advice, but it seems renewing/updating the passport with her current name/age is the best shot at avoiding any potential confusion with the police check or interview.

Hopefully someone else will have been in this situation to further assist you and hopefully some of this will help you out!

We have some time to go with the process as I haven't visited her yet, that's coming in April. Yes, its quite a different situation indeed, I'm sure the name change on the passport is a easier fix than the year of birth, I hate to say, I'll leave it up to her, but there isn't much I can do from the States here.

That's good news because it'll give both of you more time to find a solution! I totally understand you can't do much from over here unfortunately. I'm sure she can't be the only one who has a birthday that doesn't match up with her passport over there, so hopefully she'll be able to get things fixed :)  You could also try posting a question about the whole passport name/birthdate issue in a regional forum specifically for the Philippines on here and see if more people are able to help. This forum is just K-1's so it alienates a lot of potential help whereas if it's in a pool of Philippines posts it could get a lot more views and potential help :) good luck though to you both, it might end up not being an issue!

Honestly no problem, we all worry about so many things during this process  I think it's an important issue to figure out, but it might not be as big of an issue as either of us think :) best of luck!
