After filing the I-751, the NoA's for my stepdaughter arrived with her name misspelled. As instructed we brought this to the attention of the staff at the ASC when my wife and stepdaughter went for biometrics. They noted the correct spelling in red ink on the NoA and stated that the misspelling was corrected in their system. So what happened? They still sent her Green Card with the name misspelled.

Hopefully they will send the new card soon and we can be through with US-CIS for a while!

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

The error doesn't affect status, so what difference does it make? I would not have bothered to get the PR card corrected - I'd just take care of it during the naturalization process.

Cheers!

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.

We thought about that, but it will be the beginning of 2010 before she can file for naturalization and it is always best to have the same spelling on all her documents (passport, Green Card, driver's license, Social security Card, etc.) Since it was their mistake it costs us $00.00 to get the card reissued in the correct name. Due to her adult age she has to wait 5 years until she can file for naturalization. My wife can do it at the end of this year after 3 years. Fortunately her card was correct.

;)
