Oh my man if you keep taking everything on VJ so seriously you ain't gonna last very long.

You can only edit things for so long on VJ. My edit on both was done pretty instantaneously. I'm like seriously multi tasking here cut me some slack will ya.

Haha how am I taking it seriously? I'm just a bystander in this. I just didn't like your tone in that first post I quoted.

I feel you with the edit business though. I oftentimes go back to late to edit posts as well.

I think "My number is my number" is very pertinent to this discussion though. That just shouldn't fly. I realize that you are a forum poster so you have no requirement to give us anything more than that and that is fine, but you have to accept that if that is all you are going to say your opinion is pretty much just that and essentially worthless to the discussion. That mindset is exactly what is wrong with all of this. Someone like Sean Spicer can't just get on a stage and say "We had more people than ever. Period. That is what we believe and since we believe it, it is a form of facts". It has to actually be true. There are no "alternate facts". THere are alternate "estimations", but not facts.

EDIT: I took something out so that we can avoid mod wrath and try to move on :)

Of course my opinion is my opinion, I never claimed for it to be fact. But anybody who looks at the numbers and seriously thinks it was less than half a million is delusional. I looked at the same data we all can look at, much of it was on the same politifact site. I compared it to Obama, calculated a few things and reached my own conclusion. I don't always have the time nor the desire to share all my work though. Take it for what it is - that's my number, what's yours?

I don't have the knowledge/expertise to give an educated opinion that would add anything to the dialogue. When that happens I don't tend to give my opinion.

As far as I can tell Politifact was giving a range of opinions. Hence why the low ball number had a link, and the higher number had a different link. I don't think either number was one Politifact endorsed. They just provided the range.

On the topic of crowd size,

Did anyone see the photos of the parade? I thought those were a lot worse than the aerial photos of the inauguration. All of the benches on the other side of this picture. I almost feel a little bad for the guy. Some people reported that he walked for a short time and then got back in the car. I wonder if he was embarassed. The crowd at the inauguration at least filled the large front sections.

It's also not just bad for Trump. I feel bad for the soldiers who marched, the bands who played. Would feel deflated to travel for a parade, walk outside in the cold and have mostly empty seats.

Of course this could all be perspective since the bleachers the photographer is standing seem to be a little more full. Either way though at least half of the bleachers (the left side of the street) and left empty.

I noticed during the parade that the grandstands were empty.  Commentators kept saying how disappointed it would make Trump.

on the lighter side, it was adorable seeing Barron (Baron?) Trump get excited and light up whenever he'd see a group from New York

Honestly if I lived in DC and I had the day off, I would have probably gone just to see the parade/soldiers and watch the Marching Bands. Some travelled a long distance and I'd go for them. Since the crowds were so light it would have been nice and easy to just walk up to the grand stands, watch it and then leave. Less stress compared to massive crowded parades.

The excitement in the kids faces marching was great to see.  I especially loved the (predominantly) black marching bands and dancers that have so much character in their show.

Poor Al Roker tried so hard to get a statement, then some field reporter got statements from them both ?

Oh my lord guys, seriously?

Do you see what Trump has already done in his first few days in office. Instead of talking about real and serious issues - America and indeed this forum is embarrassing having a male measuring contest of ''whose is bigger''. If that's an euphemism I'm sorry, but that is literally what ya'll are doing. It's embarrassing. He's embarrassing. It's an embarrassment that Spicer was sent out there to lie to the public or even to discuss it! If he had any shred of dignity left, he would have refused, tore up his briefing and walked out as some conservatives were discussing this morning. It is frankly ridiculous. We're talking about crowds and gaudy drapes instead of the things he actually did on his first day (likely harmful), the things he is going to do, the unease he continues to cause, his embarrassing speech to the intelligence community, his frankly horrific inauguration speech which he lied about writing, the reason why millions of women felt it especially passionate this year to protest, the fact the UK almost hit Florida with a missile last year and covered it up, a horrific attack that happened on Friday in Australia, and a boatload of other truly important issues.

That's what we're reduced to now..  Alternate 'facts', pseudo realities, unreality. Make up your own stuff because you aren't man enough to accept reality. Sheep and spoon fed. And Spicer and Five-Miles-Of-Bad-Road Kellyanne will be trotted out weekly to spin these 'alternate truths'. The real truth they are lies. We've moved beyond the concept of ''it depends on what is, is'' that conservatives cried about for years ago. The reason why it was done was even more ludicrous and if it continues is a real sign of just how unstable an individual he is.

Who honestly cares if his crowd was smaller? If you do it's silly. If he does, it's frankly even more silly! It's deliciously amusing sure, but don't care so much about it. But it's a given considering his attitude and current political climate. This is his entire purpose now to distract and control people so he can never actually be hammered on the things he's actually doing.

You are absolutely right. This is why we are probably better off with women leading the country :)

My wife told me about that UK missile thing on Saturday actually! Completely didn't make the news over here. She said the BBC report was rather funny because the PM had made some announcement that she would be meeting with Trump and they mentioned how she likely expected that to be the "big news of the day", but "in other news", it was revealed that a sub accidentally fired a missile while doing training. She said it was all said in that rather stereotypical "British Niceness" which made it hilarious.

More embarrassing: Trump brought intentionally cheering groupies to the CIA speech. http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2017/01/23/cbs-trump-brought-cheerers-to-cia-visit.html

Because when nothing fits your reality, just make your own unreality.

Well the press has done it's job. All the great things Trump is doing and we are all talking about something that is totally unimportant.

Like Hillary said what does it really matter
