Hi everyone.  I just read in "My K-1 Journey" http://itsanuphilljourney.weebly.com/steps.html Step 7:  Commission on Filipino Overseas  "As Filipinos going abroad as fiance(e)s, spouses or other partners of foreign nationals, you are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling session in order to secure the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and the CFO sticker. You need this certificate to renew or apply for a new passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs. You will also need to present this certificate together with your spouse/partner visa, at the Immigration office at the international airport  on your day of departure."

I'm confused that there is no mention on this important requirement in the Visa Journey K-1 Step by Step guide.  Obviously if this is a requirement needed to leave the Philippines on the day of departure, why is there no information given here on attending a required Guidance and Counseling Session in order to obtain the CFO sticker.  I'm assuming information regarding the GCC is revealed after your K-1 Visa has been approved.  I'm just curious why there is no mention of this requirement.  Also when I Google the GCC and CFO requirements most of the information on the internet is steal dating back as far as 2012.  I'm also wondering if this is no longer a requirement?

Any information or insight you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi there,

CFO seminar is required if you're leaving from Philippines and you need to have an online appointment. I had mine in Cebu. I attached my appointment letter that I needed to bring with me on the day of the seminar. Also she needed to bring few pictures of you two since she will be interviewed about your relationship. I blurred some personal informations. The website that she can go in order to request an appointment for Cebu based applicants is cfocebu@cfo.gov.ph and also if you need more information you can find it here http://www.cfo.gov.ph/gcp.html IMG_2022.PNG

I edited my first post to explain further

Hi there,

I believed that CFO seminar is still required for Filipino that are leaving abroad from Philippines. I had mine last May. Although we process our K1 visa in Dubai because that's where I lived and worked at that time. I went home in Philippines to visit and spend time with my family before moving to US. So I still attended the seminar. The GCC and CFO sticker are given at the same time. And she needed to bring that with her at the airport because they will ask to see it when you pay for your terminal fee. I attached my appointment letter for you to see the requirements needed for you fiancée. Also it's best for her to bring some photographs of you two since after the seminar and counseling she will be ask by the counselor regarding your relationship. I think they just wanted to make sure that you have a legitimate relationship before flying here and not regret your decision. Since there are so many horor stories regarding abuse by foreign husband. Anyway she needed to make an online appointment for the seminar. Once she recieved her approval notice or NOA 2 she can go ahead and schedule it. Make sure she schedule ahead of time because the seats are limited. Anyway If you needed more information visit the website below.

God bless

Opo, this is still a requirement for the Philippines if you are immigrating from the Philippines to the USA. It does not say it on the main VJ guidelines because they are country generic, but this is a big issue in the Phillippines subforum. http://www.cfo.gov.ph/

This is a specific requirements for The Philippines only so you would not have an idea what it is what required.

Spouses and fiancees attend GCP counseling.   Children attend PDOS counseling, under 12 years of age are exempt and need only be registered to get the sticker in their passport.

CFO will ask about your husband/fiance, I suggest if you do not have a copy of your husband's/fiance's G-325A that you request he email you a copy as most of the answers to question is on that form. Besure he blocks his SSN as no one needs see or have access to that number.

GCP is required for all immigrating to another country (and that includes the K-1).  It is not required to renew your passport, UNLESS you are getting married in the Philippines to a foreigner and want to get your passport in your married name - which doesn't apply to you as you are K-1.

CFO is a Philippine requirement not a U.S. visa requirement.
