Me and my finance are applying for me to move over to the USA on a k-1 visa and just wondered how long the process takes? Or it has taken for other people...

I am pregnant, due end of April so would love some good news that its not taking an extreme amount of time.

Thankyou!!!

Hi, welcome to the VJ forums and congratulations on your pregnancy!

So that is a good question but very difficult to actually predict a specific timeline, everyone filing a K1 visa will have a different experience and length of process. I can say that me and my fiancée's was very fast (66 days to interview!) but this is NOT typical at all. Most will say it takes any from 3-6 months from the time you send your I-129f form until completion. Just make sure you fill everything out correctly and follow the guides, doing this will provide you with the best chance of success and a timely K1 visa process.

Obviously you won't be done before you have your baby, so that might slow things down...but I don't have first hand experience with K1 process with a child.(by the time your ready for your medical and interview your child will probable be born right?).

Good luck and hope it goes well for you.

ah wow you were lucky with 66 days!!  Baby is due april 30th, so I am happy to have my medical after this as I feel it would be better! The baby isn't going on my petition as I emailed the US embassy in London and they have sent me a link as to a different way to do so which seems SO MUCH easier!

Is there anything you would recommend to send to ensure a speedy and more efficient process without anything being sent back?

Thankyou Javadown2!

No, really just fill everything out exactly, sign and date the forms, honestly just follow the guides on here and you will be fine. Make sure you make copies of everything you fill out, copies of pictures, tickets and all evidence before you send them. I actually scanned everything into the computer for a safe storage. Most RFE's are for incomplete forms, make sure it's most recent form, money order or check with correct amount, things like that.
