So I am Canadian and my fiance is American and I have been here since August.

We are about to get married next week and were trying to figure out what happens from there to make sure I don't have to go back to Canada. Once were married I can stay right? And then what do we do next to make sure I am an American Citizen? Its not right away right, he thinks once were married I am then a citizen but I don't think thats how it works? What do we do?

The good news is your don't have to go back to Canada, although on this particular auspicious day I'd say some Americans would disagree with you on that decision if they were in your shoes.

Anyway, as stated above, follow the guides on filing for Adjustment of Status. Good luck! If you act fast, you might even get to be a US citizen before our next election in 2020.
