Certificate of No-Impediment

When filing our I-129F there was nothing stated what would be needed if the foreign fiancé(e) was never married.  Only if they had been & divorced.   After reading over, I believe it was RapidVisa, don't hold me to that please, it was listed a Certificate of No-Impediment.  However, none of the documents, instructions, etc. issued by the USCIS state this.  Then noticed on HM's website (gov.uk) that for a British Citizen to be married aboard they would need a Certificate of No-Impediment.  

"The Certificate of No Impediment (CNI) is now regularly requested of UK citizens that intend to marry abroad."

 

How many of you from England, in particular, or the UK have been asked prior/during the interview and/or ordered a Certificate of No Impediment to show at your interview?

How many of you from England, in particular, or the UK have been asked prior/during the interview and/or ordered a Certificate of No Impediment to show at your interview?

It's not required in the US. If you read the language on the HO's website it states IF you need such a document then you should obtain one. The US has no need nor requires such a document. I can't think of what countries would require such a document, but I suppose they exist. The US certainly doesn't. For the K1 package a signed letter of intent from both individuals stating they are both free and able to marry suffices in the eyes of the USCIS.

This document is required of K1 visa applicants in Jamaica. It is required of the beneficiary at the embassy interview.  It is not something that is sent in with the I-129f as those documents pertain to the petitioner.

I'm aware that is it 'not' required when the I-129F documents where submitted.  I'm inquiring now so I know if we should obtain one prior to the interview. (but thank you)

Where have you found that it's not required by the US?  I've been searching high and low and can't seem to find anything regarding it.  When I called the USCIS they said that during the interview it would be left to the consulate officer's choice whether or not to ask for a CNI or not.  

We would like to get as much done as possible prior to the medical/interview to help move things along.  Was just curious if other beneficiaries' from the UK have been asked for one or not so we can order it now and get it sealed.

I can assure you that the US embassy in London does not require such a document. The USA does not require such a document for people in the UK. The USCIS has no clue on the subject matter unfortunately, as they usually do on most things when you phone them.

Well then I will cross it off our list of things to obtain prior to the interview.  

Here is a list of documents that I believe will be required at the interview:

- Proof of British Citizenship

- Passport

- Vaccinations

- Passport Photo(s) (6 in total 4 for medical & 2 for Embassy)

- UK Police Certificate

- Affidavit of Support: (I-134) (tax records, bank statement(s), paystubs, etc.)

- More proof of on-going relationship

- Copy of  entire submitted I-129F
 

Am I missing anything that you can think of?
