Thanks Again.  Yes, my wife is K-1 and my step-daughter is K-2.

How does one tell whether his/her case requires interview or not?  Anyone knows?

You can't know, it's their decisions if they'll need an interview or not.

For your second question about the local office, in my case, it required no interview and it looks like it's the NBC that sent my green card right away. The sender address on the envelope was Lee's Summit and not my local office in Milwaukee.

HI, does anybody know what documents we need to bring to the DMV if we only have the EAD and not the greencard yet?

And does anybody know if you can do walk-ins for the written test in California?

Thanks and have a good weekend everyone!

The EAD card. Marriage certificate. Any other documents that will prove you California residency such as utility bills, vehicle registrations - doesn't matter if those are in your spouse's name.

As as for the walk in, I'm not too sure. In our local DMV office, I saw a line for those with appointments and those without. Check their website and set appointment if you want to be sure.

We are in IL.  My wife just walked in to take the written test.  In order to prove that she is the resident in IL, She had to bring 2 documents (from either government, bank, or utility companies) sent to her with address in IL besides bringing her passport (official ID)

I submitted a service request for my husband's I-485 on February 18th (Receipt date August 19th), and got a reply to my service request today that says that his I-485 was just APPROVED! It's not on the app yet, but I assume will pop up tonight.

The text was this:

Quote

On February 18, 2017, you contacted USCIS concerning your Form I-485 to notify us that you believe your case is outside of our normal processing time. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

On March 6th 2017, after you inquired about your Form I-485, USCIS approved your petition/application and will send your approval notice to you using the most recent address we have on file. The original notice and Permanent Resident Card should arrive within 45 days.

The way it's phrased suggests the service request did prompt the approval, so I would recommend trying a service request if your case has been pending more than 6 months!

Congrats on all recent approvals!

I just submitted the service request myself, as it's been way over 6 months. Hopefully, they respond. Last time I called, the Tier 2 officer told me that the processing time for AOS is anywhere between 6 months and 1 year :(

On a side note: has anyone ever heard of case being approved without an interview when the applicant adjusted from overstay or any other status than K-1? It's probably unheard of, but I was just curious :) Thank you!

No overstay spouses will always have interview. But there are others then K-1's there can have interview waived I think it's parents and children but can't remember it exactly but it's un their webpage.
