I don't know what happen to my case since most people adjust from K1 sent packet in July and they all got approve without interview. I keep checking Denver field and I believe right now they are working on May( system right now March 16 at December 31,2016). I hope I can get my appointment by April or May.

Definitely! My husband adjusted from a B2 visa so we will have to have an interview, we haven't done a medical yet so there's no issue with that expiring, I am just hoping that we get an interview and he is approved before is EAD expires (which would be December 2017) So as long as we get an interview before August, I think we should be fine. I don't mind waiting I just hate not knowing!

We sent off our AOS paperwork on April 1st last year (adjusting from K1 & K2 status).   Went in for Biometrics on 12 May.  (Easy, we were out in 20 minutes, mostly because I went and could fill out all the paperwork for my K1 spouse and K2 child.)   No RFEs .  We are still waiting for our AOS appointment.   The website says we are ready to be scheduled for an interview as of late July.  We hope to be notified soon, as our Advance Parole expires on 5 July, and the mother of my spouse is not in good health.

One thing I don't like about this process is that it is very difficult to make plans.  We were 1200 miles away when our Biometrics letter arrived, and had to change our plans to come back to Colorado.  Even now, If we fly, we try to go with Southwest, just so we can change our plans and not get wiped out with the airline change fees.  I just wish they'd schedule the interview when all the paperwork is received and passes all the checks.  I can wait a year no problem, but not knowing when something will happen, especially with elderly parents far away,  is difficult for us.

Anyone know how much lead time you are given for the AOS interview?  For the Biometrics, the appointment time was only 9 days away when the letter arrived.

On a positive note, we have traveled internationally once already and used the AP paperwork (K2) and EAD/AP combo card (K1) to get back in the U.S.   We were sent to secondary, but only because the initial Immigration Officer said he did not have the right stamp at his desk.  Absolutely no problem there.  (POE=LAX)  Just had to wait 20 minutes or so, and the only question they asked was, "Are you the sponsor?"   I replied yes and the officer replied, "Then I need your passport too".  2 minutes later, we were on our way.

Best of luck all you all.

Thanks for sharing your story and experience! It's nice to know that there are so many of us with similar stories in such close proximity!

Denver must be behind, I can't believe you filed in April of last year and are still waiting for your interview! I agree with you about the not knowing piece, I would not mind waiting a year or more, but the uncertainty is miserable. I wonder how they decide who gets interviews when, it doesn't seem to be entirely based on when you apply, my attorney has an AOS case that was filed in July 2016 and they got an interview in Jan 2017 - so that doesn't make sense to me!

As far as the lead time for the interview, my attorney has said it is usually about a month out, but you can probably find more specific answers from other people on this site. We had the same experience with biometrics, got the appointment date about a week prior.

That is great news about the AP! My husband and I are planning to travel back to Canada to visit his family in July, and will need to use his AP, unless there is a miracle and he gets his green card before then. One question for you - when your spouse (who is petitioning for the visa) got sent to secondary screening, you were able to go with? I wasn't sure if when I am traveling with my husband if we would be separated at that point.

Timeline

It seems strange to me too.  Sometimes I wonder if the K2 slows things down.  I know it did for the embassy portion of the process (i.e. getting the visa).  They wanted to be sure my spouse and the child were directly related, so they had to get a DNA test.  The actual work involved, (i.e. the ordering of the specimen kit, the shipping it to Cambodia, the collecting of the specimen, the shipping of the specimens back to the U.S, the lab work, the shipping of the results back to Cambodia, and the approval interview) only took about 8 days (with bulk of it being the shipping), but it took 8 months to get that amount of work done.  The most frustrating part of the whole process was there was absolutely no notice of when the specimen collection supposed to happen.  We were told we'd receive an appointment once we got the test kit there.  I could tell from FedEx tracking when that happened, but then we endured months of waiting with no notice or even acknowledgement that we were on a DNA collection appointment waiting list or the kit had arrived.   We finally left the hotel in the capital after waiting a few weeks, hoping they'd give us at least a couple of days notice to get back to the embassy.  4 months later, we were finally told we would get an appointment date in about a month.  Of course, then we had to wait for the actual appointment.  Once the specimens were collected, we had the unofficial (emailed) results to us in 3 days, but had to wait another 6 weeks for another appointment for the embassy to review the results.

All in all a very long process, but worth the wait.  I sometimes wonder if this process isn't intentionally long and performed without giving much information to us as to when things will happen on purpose.  Perhaps they think if you stick through this process, you must really want to be together.   Then again, the real reason is probably different, but one can hope(?)

As to our AP entry, we went up to the initial immigration officer all together and the officer had no problem with us going up as a group.  I think it's OK during this stage for the sponsor and petitioners to go up together.   There I was processed for entry and could have straight to customs.  The officer also examined their passports and paperwork, but didn't question them separately.  I was able to respond for the family.   I don't remember anything other than a friendly greeting and some simple chat.  He did say he was sending them to secondary because he didn't have the necessary passport stamp at his desk to allow them entry with the AP paperwork.  So he flagged down another officer and they were escorted there (very loosely - nothing intimidating, perhaps more to show the way as it was a 100 meters or so and not marked well).  I was allowed to go with them.   At the entry to secondary, we went in as a group, and I think I did show my passport to get in.  I did tell them that I was the sponsor, and had no problem getting in.   They just told us to wait in this big waiting area until our name was called.  About 20 minutes later, we were called up to a window, and one question and a couple on minutes later, we were on our way to customs.

Easy.  So much nicer that our initial entry into the US.   Hope you have the same experience.

I saw that you got an interview date, congrats!! You are giving me hope, since we filed September 22, 2016, and its now been 202 days.... I get so frustrated reading the Nov/Dec (and even JAN!!) AOS forums where people already have interviews scheduled, and I am like why is Denver so slow??? Field office processing still says April 27, 2016 A/O January 31, 2017 I think by this point they will have moved on from that, hopefully.

Anyway, I know eventually I will get an interview, I just hate the not knowing.

We actually never got a status, on the USCIS webpage our case still reads "Your response to USCIS' request for evidence has been received" and that was from November 4, 2016, it still has not been updated. From what I have seen on this forum, the status' vary immensely, and some people get them and some do not, and some people get interviews right away and others still wait a while. It's hard to know!

After filing the AOS paperwork on 1 April 2016, we finally had our interview this morning (April 25, 2016).  We had a better than imagined experience at the Denver USCIS office.  Review written.

We stayed overnight near the Centennial Airport the night before rather than risk I25 traffic over Monument hill.  Just FYI, our case status showed still showed "As of July 29th, ready to be scheduled for an appointment to adjust status (or similar) even up to the appointment day.  It never said an appointment has been scheduled.  It said earlier today that my card has been ordered.

It now says: "On April 25, 2017, we approved your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status"

Hurray!  Have the 2 year conditional card coming.  Have to file I-751 in a couple years to get the 10 year version.
