I tried but messed up so I had to scrap it...will try again another day but if someone else can get to it before me that will be great. I'm talking about the April filers list. The list here and spreadsheet is out of sync. In addition, there are those who have posted their information here but aren't on the either list.

Thanks!

Hoping someone can Help with this.

Does anyone who had a I-751 pending and filed for N-400 anyway know this:

if I were to submit my paperwork and become a May N-400 filer, (with I-751 pending), does May 2017 remain my "priority date" regardless of when I-751 gets approved?

Eg- if I file for N-400 in May, but my I-751 gets approved later in July, do I remain a May filer or do I become a July filer?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Your priority date for N-400 is the day USCIS officially accepts your application, regardless of your pending I-751. The only reason a priority date will be moved forward is if your application was returned back to you (due to wrong check, no signature, incomplete appl, etc). In short, if you file now, you will be a May filer.

Thank you so much for your quick response. Is this something you have done? Filing N-400 before I-751?

If so, were you successful or did you encounter any issues? I am considering doing this next week but I am somewhat nervous, only because I don't want any additional delays.

BOS!  I thought for sure you were already done.  I'm sorry to hear you're still waiting.  Ugh.  USCIS is the worst.

Have you filed N400 yet?  Or do you even plan on doing so?

Husband went to infopass this morning and lady said his card is "in production" but when I checked online it still has same ole " we received your case..."  I have received no emails/texts/status change/etc.  Only the letter.

I'm getting a wee bit anxious and paying more attention to the mailbox than usual, but trying not to think about it much. I did start the N400 for my husband ages ago but there's info required around address and employment history that I just don't have access to, so it's in his hands now and awaiting completion. Digging up all that stuff is stressful! We were eligible to file beginning of April and right now I'm figuring the paperwork will go out in June. What about you?

I was like you and started getting the packet together months ago (basically printing out the exact same stuff from ROC packet!)  We decided to wait for ROC approval before filing so that way husband could have an actual green card.  It seems like some people who file N400 ahead of time never get a new green card!  So I've got everything together and am sending it out today!  I forgot my checkbook but then remembered you can pay N400 with a credit card.  So it'll go out today.  Huzzah!  Nearly done with this mess!

Also, congratulations to everyone who has been approved already and good luck to everyone still waiting for that letter!!! It's a frustrating, nerve-wracking process that shouldn't have to take this long...

I am now waiting on my card and I don't really know when/if I am going to apply for citizenship. I do know that I need a break from having to go through all of this all over again, so if I decide to go ahead with the N400, it's not going to be right away.

I submitted N-400 application right after I got approval letter for ROC. Here's what I think about you submitting N-400 now with ROC pending: if someone is already working on your file, your ROC will be adjudicated through the normal process. If your file has not been assigned or picked up by someone, USCIS will send your ROC to your local office alongside your N-400. If the latter happens, both your ROC and N-400 will enter the same queue. By law, they must make a decision on your ROC before (or simultaneously) they approve your N-400. Your ROC will not affect your N-400 timeline but your N-400 can affect your ROC timeline positively (speed up) or negatively (decision on hold until N-400 is also ready for adjudication). My advice: If you don't have a pressing need to apply for N-400, I suggest you wait out your ROC for another month. You can get a stamp if your extension letter is expiring soon. If after 2 months, you still don't get anything on ROC, go for the nuclear option (lol) and file N-400. The naturalization application will eventually push 'stubborn' ROC cases to be adjudicated.

Havent posted in a while but wanted to get your thoughts on weather i should send my wife citizenship application in or wait until she gets approval. File is at VSC

It depends on her situation. Sending in N-400 before ROC is approved helps in some situations and hurts in others.

Let's say for example you filed ROC and became eligible for citizenship 3 months after filing. If ROCs are taking 1 to 1 1/2 to be adjudicated filing N-400 early will be a good idea because it will be likely that interview for citizenship will be scheduled before ROC would have been approved (ROC will be adjudicated at N-400 interview).

This is your scenario:

You're (your wife) is a May filer and May ROCs have already started getting approved. If your N-400 application hits the system before your case if adjudicated it may cause a delay. I don't have concrete proof or firsthand experience of this but I've heard that they may wait until your N-400 interview to adjudicate your ROC. I've also heard that you won't get an actual Green Card if you're approved while N-400 is pending.

If your wife doesn't need to have a physical GC within a year I'd say file the N-400. But it she needs a physical GC, you may want to wait till ROC is approved.

Reasons she may need a physical GC:

1. For the job

2. To obtain or renew driver's license

3. For travel purposes.

Some people have reported difficulties in these situations when a physical GC is not present.

Good Luck!

I am one of the silent members who regularly reads all the posts but comments only when I start losing my patience! I am really thankful to all the members here who share their valuable insights and feel lucky to be part of this community. Need some guidance again : (

So my ROC was received on 4/7/2016.

Change of the address on 8/25/2016.

Heard nothing thereafter till Feb when I enquired about the status of my application on 3/19/2017 and received a request for more evidence on 3/24/2017

submitted documents again that they asked for which was delivered on 4/12/17

Now, how long should I wait before contacting them again to check the status on my application?

Also, I will be traveling out of US in November. So should I file N-400? After I have new green card or not wait for it?

So confused!
