Hey VSC filers, here are the latest stats.  Nothing scientific here...I just scrolled through the self-reported Visa Journey data and counted on my fingers.  OK, I lie.  I have a pad of paper here....

There are thirty-three (33) I-751 February filers at VSC with Visa Journey timelines.  Of those 33, 20 of them have been approved.

There are thirty-five (35) I-751 March filers at VSC with Visa Journey timelines.  Of those, 6 have been approved, all in the first week of the submission month.

That's a 60% approval rate for February 2016 VSC filers so far and a 17% approval rate for March 2016 VSC filers.

I did see one "approval" box ticked "NO" from February.  Don't know if that was a mistake or a disappointment.

I'm betting that we VSC filers will NOT get our cards by the NOA1 one-year anniversary date.  However, I believe we ALL will get our cards (barring some horrible RFE) by our GC one-year-extension expiration date.

Most of the people submitting I-751s via IR-1/CR1 in this timeframe went through the I-130 meltdown.  I hope we have better luck this time around.

Thanks for the update, Sukie! This is really helpful. Looks like I should get a stamp since I'm travelling in May. :(

You don't need to get the extension stamp unless your Green Card Expiration Date + One Year is close.  Even if you are not traveling overseas, I would recommend getting the stamp before your one-year extension is up.  Depending upon which state you live in, I think it best to ALWAYS have proper status.  The I-551 stamp gives you a clear right to be in the United States.

So...if your expiration date is in July, like mine is, you really don't need to sweat it until about 4 weeks before your expiration date.  THEN make an InfoPass appointment and get that stamp.

I think a great many April 2016 filers will have their new 10-year cards by the end of May.  Of course, given the fact that there is so much uncertainty surrounding immigration these days, there always could be more slow-downs.

The waiting gets harder the closer to the end, doesn't it?

People commenting on this forum are expressing their opinions with best intentions. I don't think there are too many (if any) attorneys on this thread. I wouldn't wait to get an infopass appointment. Since your gc is expiring on 4/18/2017, what are you waiting for to set up that appointment? I wouldn't. And no matter what anyone told me, I wouldn't wait for the 1 year period to be over to set up the infopass appointment. Just my $0.02

I'm with the above posters.  Get an InfoPass appointment BEFORE your extension expires.  I know my local ASC only schedules two weeks prior - so we will check one month before our drop-dead date and get the appointment then (if we need to).

Some ASCs will not give you a stamp unless you are 30 days away from the drop dead date.  We are going to test this, as our date is July 16th, and we are traveling out of the country on May 28th for three months!

Here's the article I've been making reference to, when I say that the passport stamp is only "proof of your legal status." The article is from last year, as part of an immigration lawfirm's blog, but it certainly still applies (maybe even more so, now)!

Amazing that this article is nearly one year old.  And VSC was over a year behind then, too!

I guess in many ways, we AREN'T a priority.  As long as we can get that I-551 stamp.  But the hassles of having to renew driver's licenses ONE YEAR AT A TIME is a pain in the @$$, and having to go through secondary every time we come into the country is a hassle, too.

As soon as that card is in hand, we're going for citizenship!  (Which, for our case, is due to the fact that we will be out of the country for a few months.  Otherwise, our paperwork would be filed as of April 17th!!!!!)
