Hello Snow, Welcome to the United State of America!!! I can relate at how much you miss home. My husband and I will "balik kampung" towards the end of next month. We're soooooooo excited, can't wait to smell and eat our delicious food again  But most of all, can't wait to see my family and friends again.

Hi there Ephesia, how's it going? My trip to San Antonio was great.... I invited a Filipina friend of mine to go with me and we had so much fun. We had lunch at some Chinese restaurant. The food was delicious. We kinda hang out at the restaurant until it's time to go for my biometrics appointment and after that we went shopping ...hehehe. Gosh, there were Easter sales at almost the whole stores at the San Marcos outlet mall

Anyway, hope you all had a wonderful Easter. Talk to you all soon.

Apa khabar, Snow? :)

Glad to hear your trip went very well, Dora! I miss good ol' Chinese food for sure. But I am also thinking of fixing sambal prawns one evening this week. Mmm mmm mmm.

Easter morning and afternoon went well. We had a beautiful service at church, then lunch with the family at his mom's home. As usual, I ate too much. Now sipping on green tea, and will probably end up crashing on the couch in a few mins. lol. Our dog's also waiting for me. She's adorable. She is very obviously a Daddy's girl when my husband comes home from wherever. But when it's time for snuggling or attention, she comes to me.

Have a good week!

Hey Ephesia, you like sambal udang too? They are my favourite and I even like it hot and spicy too. But my husband couldn't stand the smell... ah.. well it's his loss... he has no idea what he's missing  In fact when I called home last night and talked to my step mother ... I requested that she also prepares sambal udang as one of the dishes for dinner. Not forgetting belacan kangkung, ikan goreng ... just to name a few...

It's a good thing that my husband loves most of our food except for sambal udang. He even loves durian and in fact he told me just now that he's craving for it... hehehe. How about your husband Ephesia... does he love Asian food too? Your dog sounds so cute.... Hey, do you mind if I send you a "pm" one of these days?

Take care.

It means, hello friends, how are you all?...... I've moved here in Kyle, Texas two years ago. I really love it here but so far besides my cousins in Houston and El Paso, I do not know anybody from Malaysia in Austin. Anyway, if you're one of them out there, it would be nice to communicate.... and let's be friends  Have a great day. And terima kasih (thank you).....

~Dora

Try at the University of Texas. I remember meeting lots of Malaysians when I was a student there.

Hi Doc :)

Are you asking if you will get into trouble with your US visa interviews if you visit Malaysia? Are you already in the US or still waiting for the consulte interviews in your home country?

There might be some restrictions on your travel IF you are already in the US and waiting for your paperwork. But if you are not in the US yet, i haven't heard of any rule that doesn't allow travel. Best to check with the US consulate in your home country :)

Malaysia is a nice place to visit :)

Hapy belated Easter greetings to everyone! Hello to you too Snow :)

Dora, i have been to San marcos when i was there visiting. Those stores are really good so i can only imagine what they are like when they are on sale! forget lunch! heck forget even dinner!!

Eph, is it easy to get Asian groceries in Indy?

When i was visiting my hubby in Maine, we absolutely could not find an asian store in portland! So i'm having pre withdrawal symptoms for when i finally do go over for good - How am i to survive without Maggi curry mee or chilli padi??..lol..

I am going to visit hubby in 2 weeks. Did any of you have problems when you were flying to the US after the application was submitted?

Best -Ants-

Hello Doc, I don't see any reasons why you couldn't visit Malaysia while you're waiting for your visa. Nope, I don't think there's any problem at all. Take lots of pictures with your hubby while on vacation, cos you might want to bring those pictures as proof of your relationship when you do go for your interview.

Thanks for your suggestions Homesick_America  . I might try doing that.

Hey Ants, you're right... normally we forget lunch or dinner whenever we go shopping at the outlet mall  And don't worry about your maggie mee.... we have Ramen Noodles here... but of course I still prefer maggie. So you're coming to visit your hubby here in two weeks' time? I bet your hubby is all excited and looking forward to seeing you again. My cousin came to visit her hubby while her K3 visa was being processed and she didn't have any problem travelling. I'm sure you'll be fine. Well, good luck.

Khabar baik, khabar baik! It's funny to find out what I missed about Malaysia when I moved here. One of it is the ability to talk in Malay and various Chinese dialects all the time together with my lahs!

I found the Mee Siam package from Prima Taste a couple of months ago in a Ranch 99 store in North California, turned out that it had belacan in it. I made it for my husband and he complained that the house smelled horrid after wards!

However, he had 2 helpings of the fried mee siam (I fried it instead of making it according to the directions on the package) and agreed that it should be something we can have for dinner in the future. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find prima taste packages in the Ranch here (only been to one though).

Hey again!

Dora - No, hubby doesn't like a lot of Asian food. What he accepts so far is teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour pork (but he sometimes puts shredded cheese on top for himself. Gross. ), fried chicken wings, and non-spicy fried rice. I fixed hainanese chicken rice for dinner once. He ate some and remarked, "So this dish is just chicken and rice?" I had to laugh.

He will try most things that I cook as long as it is NOT spicy. He doesn't mind the smells when I cook anything hot and spicy. He's even gotten pretty good at guessing what I've cooked when he walks into the house.

OMG, I miss belacan kangkung !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I craved mee goreng on Easter morning because it was so cold and all I could think about was sambal chilli.

I miss Maggi Mee too. :(

And you can send me a PM any time you want. :)

Snow - You may find this website helpful: http://www.primataste.com.sg/onlineorderenets/products.asp

waitinginME - There are a number of Asian stores in central Indy, so I have been fortunate. When I first got here, I would go to one particular store every 6 weeks because they had a lot of stuff I needed ... like Julie's love letters !!!!!!! I've stopped shopping at these stores ever since I found Asian Home Gourmet's website, though. I order whatever stuff I want from there. Oh, I also shop at Asian Food Grocer ( http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com ). They have prawn crackers !!!!!!!!! It's not Calbee, but it's prawn crackers !!!!!!!! :D
