My whole reason for signing up to Netflix was to avoid having to go to Blockbuster, so the Blockbuster online thing doesn't really interest me. Plus with Netflix I can watch old Doctor Who's online. :)

Blockbuster Online works exactly the same way as Netflix -- you don't have to go

to the store to return or exchange the movies. *Plus* they send you free

coupons, so if you do go to the store, you can pick up a couple of extra DVDs.

Blockbuster has a reputation of editing parts of movies they find offensive.

Really? Where did you hear that?

They may have changed their policies in recent years, but this was their policy 7 years ago.

The company buys just about everything, except NC-17 and X-rated films. Years ago, Blockbuster got a reputation as a guardian of public morals when it refused to stock ``The Last Temptation of Christ,'' but those days are over. ``Anything that falls within the parameters of the MPAA we will carry, as long as it's not NC-17,'' Greene says. ``It's not our job to be a censor.''

I'm trying to search it, but I believe they would edit movies down to a rated 'R' version. So far, all I'm seeing is blogs saying it was n urban legend...

We've had the Blockbuster online for over two years now, and we really like it. We went from a $17.99 plan (3 movies at a time, no limit) to just the $5.99 plan now (1 movie at a time, 3 a month I think?) because we just weren't watching them. What I've liked about them is how quickly they get here (2-3 days tops, from when we send one in to one being at our doorstep) and if they don't have it in their warehouse they send you a copy from a nearby store so it's even faster. What has been especially surprising to us is we have lost a few (left them on airplane) and we just let them know online and it said thanks and sent out our next three videos in our queue, no additional questions asked or payment needed. 3 movies lost, and they thanked us for our honesty. Gotta like that.

And whomever said something about videos fitting in their mailbox--they don't come in a DVD box, they are just in a rectangular postal envelope. Not even padded or anything, so it should fit in any mailslot.

I just had the weirdest thing happen yesterday...

I had been waiting for a new DVD to come .... It was supposed to get here on Tuesday but it never did and it didn't come on Wednesday either... so yesterday I was checking the Netflix site and I noticed that they sent me out another movie .... I checked my recent rental activity and it showed that the movie I had been waiting for was returned :huh: but I hadn't even got it yet so how could I have returned it??

this is the first time this has ever happened.....

I wonder if it got delivered to the wrong address or something and they returned it.... or maybe the postal service worker got tired of delivering them :P:unsure:
