So... I read all these horror stories... I filed back in February 2017, to the Chicago lockbox from abroad. It was assigned to the Nebaska center... In March, I received the NOA2 and my case was forwarded to the NVC. Why was my case processed so quickly, when so many others wait the better part of a year? A colleague of mine also filed his from abroad at around the same time and it also ended up at Nebraska; he is still waiting for his NOA2. What is the difference?

Beats me. because it seems that you both went the DCF route instead of the regular CR1 which is considerably faster, although for you if it only took a month which is way fast and you got lucky. This isn't the norm. But who knows why some people get stuck and others get processed before. Some issues like agent who gets your case, time married, no RFEs, case being expedited, etc. are tend to be contributing factors, but there isn't one specific reason we know of. Just look at how they're still processing November, some December cases and randomly approve February, march and even April cases. USCIS is all over the place.

Neither of us did DCF, it is unfortunately no longer an option here in Kuwait. We've only been married a year, but I did supply a significant amount of financial evidence showing we live together, have a shared bank account, and have taken numerous trips together with my wife. More than anything, I guess I just hit the USCIS jackpot.

Here's to hoping the rest of my process goes as smoothly. I feel there there are an infinite number of things that can go wrong at the NVC, and it largely depends on the person who is assigned my case. The most stressful part of this process is the "unknown factor," so much is out of our control. So much depends on "luck."

I see, didn't know it wasn't an option anymore :)

I'm truly glad it worked out for you, it truly was like winning the lottery. You got approved incredibly fast, and unfortunately that's not the case for most of us. I have to say, for the ones like me that have been waiting over 6 months and are looking at 8-10 months overall, I can't friggin' wait to hit the NVC stage. I know it's not all smooth sailing, but anything is better than waiting without knowing a single thing at all. Knowing your case is sitting somewhere collecting dust. It is nerve-racking

I know... that is the worst part of it. And there is nothing you can do to find out what the status is, either... They won't update your case on the website until something is done, and if you call them, more than likely no one knows anything about the status of your case other than "it's at Nebraska."

I felt truly blessed and shocked when I got the email saying I was approved, so quickly. I was expecting 6-8 months myself, from everything I read.

My coworker decided to hell with it and obtained a tourist visa for his wife in the mean time. He was fortunate that they approved that...It is a gamble that could potentially have negative consequences on the IV process. He did the research and sent her to her interview with an immigration-visa size binder of personal documents, and she was well prepared for the questions they asked her.

In the mean time while you are waiting, gather everything you need for the AOS and IV process. Don't dawdle like I did, if I had been proactive I would be finished right now lol. Gather everything except police certificates now, before you even get the NOA2. The only reason I say not to get them is that at most, they last a year... but depending on the country, it can be much less. Kuwait's are only valid 3 months. ;..; So no matter what I do, I will have to obtain it twice (NVC process takes minimum  9 weeks from the time they receive it, plus once they approve it and an interview spot is available they will give you 30 days notice before the interview.) Your police certificates have to be valid not only when you send copies to the NVC, but ALSO when you attend the interview. Bah.

You got approved incredibly fast. I am in Kuwait too and nothing is really happening, that's not a new story in Nebraska....Applications from Nov are still pending following that trend i don't expect to get approval until the end of this year or beginning of next yr...

You really are blessed for sure!

We are working on what we need, we have the affidavit of support papers and all required documents both in original and translated copies. I did get my police certificate because I thought I needed it for my volunteering, but I know I'll have to get a ''fresh'' one, Mexican ones also expire after three months. It's quite annoying because I can only get the ''good'' federal ones from Mexico City, which means I have to travel back there, since I currently live at my parent's in Cozumel. Which means considering all this, I might have to do that annoying 2 hour long process in a Mexican government facility were dreams go to die, three damn times. hah.

so this may not mean anything but on my list of cases i am tracking there were few cases from November their status changed to " Case was received at my local office "     I think , that means they transferred the case to different local USCIS office ? or NBC ? or different Service Center ?

and Also

is this right lol ? according to VJ  current Processing time CSI shows as April 1st 2017, and VSI shows March 30 ?  man those centers sky rocketed lol , 4 months ahead of NSC
