between him and the fee increase, people rushed to file and yes, if you don't take this into account you will have a serious backlog.

why not hire temporary workers to deal with it if you know what's up? oh I forgot, they really don't care. Ha ha silly me.

Right, they really don't. I got my response from my senators office in the mail yesterday. Same script about processing times but, they did say if I wanted to try to expedite send the required documents back to the senators office, which they will forward on the the congressional supervisory unit for processing. I am going to try it. One of my docs already wrote a letter and I am waiting on two more from two specialists that I see. One told me he'd have it to me by the end of the week, no response yet from the other.  Once I have them all I will send that in and see what happens. I hear they really don't process expedites unless it is really serious but we'll see what happens.

I tend to believe the increase in applications was due to the price increase rather than Trump's Presidency. Applying in November ahead of him taking office would not have affected anyone's petition because it was already at six months approx for NOA2.

They really should have hired extra workers for the other centers and spread the applications out evenly.

I just like blaming him for everything :P

I also believe the fee increase explains the surge in applications. But they could control that since they increased the fee, so instead of preparing for it it's now taking twice as long to process applications in Nebraska, so it's more expensive to wait longer. Awesome

Good luck with your expedite!

I've also read that it's just for serious cases, that's why I'm not even attempting to do so. I also go to therapy and I am depressed, but I can still manage and be somewhat functional (I work from home and I don't go out often since I have anxiety) But  I think of all those couples experiencing extreme financial loss, illness, kids missing their parents and crying every day... they all deserve it way more than I do. This process is brutal, physically and emotionally.

Unfortunately he makes himself an easy target.

I believe I read a post somewhere that most of the centers are really under staffed, so adding a price increase without increasing staff first is just crazy planning. A bigger problem will result because of the extra delays in processing. My belief is that a lot more will just enter and then get married then file for an adjustment of status, of course it's it's illegal to do it knowingly but it won't stop some trying.

It was incredibly silly of them. It's common sense, if fees are increasing people with rush to send it because the increase because: duh they didn't want to pay more. Simple. That they didn't take this into account shows you how unprepared they are in many senses. I think the same as you, once they realize how difficult, expensive, long and frustrating this process is they will go the illegal route, which is counterintuitive if they want us to follow the rules and the proper VISA for it, then at least make it a bit more accesible and organized.

I know a lot of people doing this,  They can always say ''I came for a vacation and whoops, changed my mind'' They even say ''but why didn't you just do that'' and it makes me want to punch them in the face. It's such a grey area. Everything about this is infuriating.

Agreed. I'm preparing myself for denial as I know they are really strict on it. But since the senators office offered to help I'll send in my proof. However, hubby and I are prepared to keep waiting, sigh

If they don't get any help soon, there will be a ton of mad spouses!!! I feel they'll probably be backlogged until they get passed all of December. I believe most swirled in Nov and December because of the fee changes, like a few others stated before. I got my NOA1 DEC12..... Still waiting like the rest of y'all. We only have so long! Hang in there VJ family!

How is processing time in November relevant now?

How it works is, a rush of applications in November, they don't process those they just receive them, NOW they are processing November and that's why there's a delay.

Just because processing time is 6 months when you apply doesn't mean that's when you'll get processed.

Just because processing time is 6 months when you apply doesn't mean that's when you'll get processed.

Every month is relevant not only November, but there was an increase in applications leading up to December 23 when the price changed. So it's only natural that they would take longer to clear cases that they received during those months.

That appears to be the common opinion for the current delay.

My PD is 11/29 and I applied because of Trump, couldn't care less about the fee increase.  Trump's election represented the unknown when it comes to immigration policy.  I wish I had applied sooner.  There was a serious spike in applications after Thanksgiving, I think it correlates with the election.

But running out and applying because he just won the election and had not yet taken office doesn't make sense. Any genuine application for immigration was never at risk and still isn't, nothing has changed.

I disagree. It might not make sense to you but, I myself and others I know made sure to get our applications in before he took office as we were not sure what changes, if any, would occur. That an also the fee increase.

But you couldn't have known that, thats the point, its an unknown and there was strong talk about immigration, although by the time the cases are actually reviewed it probably wouldn't have mattered about filing then.

And whether is it was a cause for concern or not, it doesn't change the fact that people did rush to file for that, I believe it was a mix of this and the fee increases.

But anyway, regardless we know we have some extra time to wait.
