I am a student and I work part time. In order for my husband to live with me we have to live off campus. I told them in order to establish a residence with my husband , I would have to live off campus apartment is not covered under my scholarships. So it would be an out of pocket expense for my husband and I. I make enough to cover about 80 % of the rent but the rest would be covered by my husband. The apartment is giving me until July 31st to back out of my lease without penalty. If I do no tell them before the cut off date they will charge me the full year  Which will be around $7,000 dollars Which is an income loss of more than 75%. I provided them with a letter from my apartment and a statement from my school with what my scholarships cover.

Did you send your expedite request by mail? If not, how did you send them the letter and the school statement?

Hello, I was reading the posts about expediting a case and wanted to get an opinion about my particular case, whether it is worth submitting a request for it to be expedited.

My son was born in Oct last year with a heart condition so he had to have open heart surgery at 5 days old, he is fine now however will need a cardiologist for the rest of his life and unfortunately cannot go out much and be around other kids, if he gets a respitory infection it can lead to problems with his heart. Because of this I cannot put him in any type of day care until he is older and I don't have anyone to take care of him while I work, so I really need my husband here so that one of us can look after our son while the other works, and it's crucial right now for my son to have insurance.

We are going to be visiting my husband next month, as my son finally got a doctors clearance to travel. This will be the first time that my husband will be seeing his son. However I can't keep going back and forth with my son, plane tickets are costly and I don't want to be putting my son at too much of a risk while traveling. Which is why when I read about possibly expediting a case It gave me a little bit of hope however will it lengthen the time for my case if they deny it?

Any advice will help!

Your case would definitely be expedited. I've seen other situations like your and they all were approved.

Mine was 186.  Most seem to be around the 190 day mark so 6  months is about accurate although obviously it changes.  When I started, the estimated time was less than 5 months but just kept getting pushed back.

Timelines are very accurate about 9 times out of 10. They do, however, adjust frequently to reflect when the service center starts to slow down, which unfortunately happens all too often at Nebraska. We waited 199 days at Nebraska before being approved. They receive hundreds of petitions every day, just requires a lot of patience, especially when petitions with PD after yours are getting approved first.

I think the 5-7 month wait (more 7 than 5 ) is the indeed the most frustrating part of the process.
