I just looked up what is needed for NVS stage, so I'm getting them together now of what I can on my end.

this is the sort of checklist you get to prepare for NVC on welcome package i beleive

you can go by this list and gather as much as you can  and get ready for NVC   ( ignore the circle )

going by this , I just need few things to collect, and probably gonna  fill out I-864  ( was waiting for new version since this one expired July )

also thinking about  telling my wife to just go get Police clearance , since they last for 1 year , while I am in the India , i can just bring a copy with me too

I know it is not a requirement but i did it none the same. Its a personal choice. Seeing i had copies of everything and the originals when i went to get othet documents certified i did it for all. I do have copies of documents not certified. As said before its a personal choice.

I forgot to add the police record to my previous list. Here in Jamaica a police record can be obtained within a day once the express fee is paid hence why i have not gotten one as yet and also because they are only valid for 6 months unlike other countries that is valid for a year.

SO HOW U GET TO KNOW ALL THIS? HOW U SIGN UP FOR IT? I MEAN YEAH I SIGN UP BUT HOW DO I GET AN UPDATE LIKE THAT? CAN I ADD MORE THEN ONE ADDRESS? TO GET THAT KIND OF ALERT?

You should have signed up for e-notification by sending form G-1145 with the initial I-130 petition.

You can still get notification by going to uscis.gov or maybe calling to have your email added.

You can also request to get text notification.

Generally, the petitioner should be getting the alerts, assuming that he or she is the one sending out the documents to USCIS/NVC and doing all the calling. Of course, the foreign spouse can do that as well but it is probably easier if the person in the US does it. Both of you should be working on this together.

Just ensure you are very proactive. You can choose to obtain police certificate once you see cases close to yours being approved. I would take that chance or it you don't like to take risk wait until you get approval to request it. Just calculate it to a science. Seems we have to be thinking one step ahead of this very long process. I wish you all the best.

I notice that a lot of the beneficiaries are the ones doing all the sending of documents.

Why couldn't the petitioner who, if in the US, do all that? Sending paperwork from abroad can be very expensive and things take time and can get lost.

Maybe, that is my nemesis in all this thing, because in case of getting a RFE, I lose the money of the form!!! (But well, when the cases near mine are getting approved , at  least 15 days after I'm going to request that in Cuba!!! I don't have other choice, (I was born in a burocratic and complicated country)!

But why?If the originals one are ONLY requested at the embassy stage, you can scan the documents and the Petitionary prints them and asemble the package with this!

@jakelakeou, if I understand your question correctly, you are asking why should the beneficially (living outside the US) be the one sending the documents to either USCIS or NVC. The simple answer to that is, there is no requirement from either USCIS nor NVC on who should send the documents. They just need you or your petitioner or even your lawyer to send the required documents. It doesn’t matter who sends it as long as it is sent via the right process using the proper medium.

But then if you live in Haiti and your civil plus other documents are in Haiti, you still need to send them to your petitioner living in the US anyways before they can then send them to USCIS/NVC right? J

...do good and good will be done onto you...

Generally, the petitioner should be getting the alerts, assuming that he or she is the one sending out the documents to USCIS/NVC and doing all the calling. Of course, the foreign spouse can do that as well but it is probably easier if the person in the US does it. Both of you should be working on this together.

Well we have a lawyer…..so some mail will go to my lawyer and some mail was sent to my husband. No foreign spouse can’t do it at USCIS only at NVC. We are working together, how do u know if we are not working together? Just because people be asking questions you want to think another way around.

That is what this group is for to help each other’s.

Maybe this is why some people don’t like ask questions for the same reason. Either you are going to answer or don’t answer.

on top of that my Lawyer is in Houston just saying.
