Husband got his medical finished, and they misspelled his name.....had to get it corrected. At least they didn't charge to fix it. Total damage including extra vaccines came to $550.00.....sigh. 

Nothing to report from us....still waiting 

 

Hope we can avoid the second medical....$550...yikes!

Hey guys, my I-485 was filed March 31st 2016. I had a notice that my finger print fee was received and accepted March 31st. June 7th 2016 my EAD and ravel authorization were both approved. Since then I have had no news.  My case is currently at 347 days! My mum who is a permanent resident sponsored me and I am an unmarried daughter who is over 21. I have raised a request as it is outside of the processing time, I waited 30 days and my request had not been assigned, I have been told to call back this week.  I believe that the next step will be interview? 

 

Is it normal to take this long? Should I be concerned?  I believe that my mum and I will be called to interview next? does anyone know what the interview involves?

It seems like a few of us march 2016 filers got caught in a little bit of a black hole and our process took a long time. I would say you're fine....but find out why it's taking so long. If it's background then nothing can be done. Just make sure you renew your ead. 

 

I have ave no idea what a parent child interview would be like since ours is marriage based. Hopefully someone else on here may know

Many of us on this March 2016 forum are adjusting status based on marriage-based visas, so you may need to do a bit of searching within the VisaJourney website to find a forum discussing AOS based on parent sponsorship. However, I can speak to the long wait...we filed on March 8, 2016 so we've now passed the one-year mark. We found out through an InfoPass appointment that my husband is still under security checks. As Sparkles said, there is nothing we can do but wait at this point. Even USCIS can't necessarily hurry along the security checks, which are conducted by the FBI, a separate government agency.

 

Your next step may be another call to USCIS (1-800-375-5283). When you call, you should ask to speak with a Tier 2 officer. They are the immigration officers with access to your records. The USCIS representative who answers the phone is simply trained to answer frequently asked questions and can't actually tell you what's happening with your application because they don't have the proper security clearance to do so.

 

If you can't get more information by calling the USCIS hotline, I would suggest making an InfoPass appointment at your local service center. Those can be hard to get, so just keep checking every day around 7:00 AM and throughout the day. The appointments slots are updated early in the morning, but if someone cancels during the day, you may be able to snag that slot.

 

If you can't get information from an InfoPass appointment about why your application is taking so long, you may want to consider contacting your congressperson for help. Most offices have a liaison with USCIS and are supposed to get back to you in 6-8 weeks with a response (our office took 12+ weeks to get back, but eventually they did, after weekly phone calls and complaining on my end). It looks like you're in Pennsylvania, so this website may be a good place to start.

Trying to live life, not think about the fact that our one-year PD anniversary is tomorrow...

 

I've weaned myself off of my standard 25 x per day trolling of this website, uscis.gov, and stalking the mailman....now it's about 3 x per day for each. 

 

I'm a little concerned about daveyjoe. No one has heard from him since their interview and it sounded like it wasn't going super smoothly. @Daveyjoe, if you check this forum anytime in the next week, please let us know how you are doing!!

Side note guys. Got the ead renewal notice saying no need for fingerprints again, just wait for processing. Hoping we don't need it!

Which notice is that? We filed EAD/AP renewal documents on 1/12, but haven't received anything. I thought we'd get a notice informing us about the new automatic six-month extension if AOS is still pending, but, so far, nothing.

for renewable June, do they usually send you a notice? I've heard nothing on my I-485 since filing it last march either. The only notice I received is that they had received my finger prints.

No it's on you to remember to renew it 90 days in advance. You can renew as much as 120 days in advance but a new law was passed saying an expired ead with its renewal receipt is good to work on for 6 extra months or til you get the new ead.

I've gotten two so far. One saying they got our application and another today saying it's in process, no fingerprints needed. I think the 6mo extension is just by word of mouth and the PDF on uscis site

Which local office are you from? They didnt send us any notice but we sent in renewal docs in January. We recieved a a receipt notice for that. Now that we have Gc, im not actually sure what happens to it..

You just wont ever get the renewal EAD in the mail if the GC is approved before it is.
