TODAY IS THE DAY!

I didn't sleep AT ALL last night. Of course, I felt like I should beef up my binder of supporting documents / I suddenly realized just how much I didn't have yet.

Before our interview  @2:15PM here in NYC, I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone in this forum. I don't think I'll ever get to meet the vast majority of you, but having you all as a resource kept me from truly having a breakdown while waiting.

Equally as important, I wanted to say an extra, extra thanks to everyone here for being such an amazing & phenomenal resource. To be frank - my lawyer freaking SUCKS - I always left more confused and scared after talking to him. However, it was everyone in this forum who TRULY offered clarity, explanation, comfort, and insight in ways the lawyer NEVER did or could. In fact, you were all so wonderful I fully regret paying the asshat and would have GLADLY put that money in all your pockets instead. ...< O the things I wish I had known 1.5 years ago >...

DEFINITELY terrified about my finances qualifying for sponsorship levels, definitely terrified I did my taxes wrong last year (don't fail me now TurboTax), definitely terrified they'll question the timeline of our coming back into the country while claiming at customs no intent of staying permanently... but then getting married literally 4 days later...

I'll be filling you all in later with how it all turns out.  Give me them positive vibes y'all!

Best of of Luck!!

Linyahui- im up for it, let's keep each other posted.

Meanwhile- daveyjoe!, sending you all the positive vibes.

Welp. - Currently sitting in the land of deferred dreams a.k.a. The Queens Immigration office.

Met with my lameass lawyer who handed us off to another lawyer to handle the interview. HE at least is clear and in depth on everything we needed and the process at least - even if he is sickeningly condescending and making us both very nervous. Especially when he freaked out that he said we had used Medicaid.... Thanks for telling me in advance?! Ughhh.

The initial guy who submitted our forms never encouraged me to add my savings to the form for support - which would have enabled me to not have burdened my brother with having him jointly file.

Also he LOST my husband's original birth certificate then told us literally 6 days ago we needed the original again which OF COUrSE has not arrived in the mail even if it was speed delivered. However even after my husband's parents spent tons of money express mailing it and having it arrive delayed, he never told us we need it translated as well. All that time in his office, him holding all of our documents, never once did he mention translation.

Additonally he wrote down to only bring my 2015 W-2s not also my 2016. Which might actually have also been an oversight on my part but why not mention that to me yesterday prior when you were looking thru?!

Basically I'm expecting this to not go well. We probably will be delayed for months again and I'll be trapped in this forum till the close it down again. Is this purgatory? Hoping for a miracle y'all! - while simultaneously hoping for a curse on this rude and less than thorough lawyer.

Just out, went well, no approval today as we'd only handed in the i693 today and he has to review that and our marraige evidence. He did say it was all positive and he saw no reason to deny. I'll type up a full review later, we're off to the Irish Pub  for lunch!

Congratulations on the Great News for Sparkles and all the others who got their interview dates and/or did their interviews !!. Glad to see all March filers finally getting along and getting their papers.
I could not keep with with the thread due to the heavy course load of Berkeley and the classes :( really hard ! lol. Till this day i have not gotten any response or update from USCIS. still waiting and wondering how long will this take. Meanwhile, sinking in student debt everyday.
I wish all the interviews goes well for everyone and i will try to get back with you guys anytime i get a chance.

We arrived at 11.30, went through security and into the waiting room. Which was empty when we got there, but filled up pretty quickly. We got called at 12.10 and they combined my and my son's interview, which was handy. My son and I were sworn in and we all (including hubby) sat down. The officer introduced himself and his colleague (who was watching our officer as he was in training).

We were asked about our i130 and i485, kiddo had to answer questions about his own but was allowed to ask me if he didn't know the answer. The only other question directed at him was "is school here much different to Ireland".

We were then asked how we met and how many times my hubby and I visited each other before getting married. He specifically asked about our wedding in Scotland, and laughed when we said we had paid witnesses.

We handed over supporting evidence, bills, lease, life insurance, Christmas cards to us all, health insurance and proof of use. We handed over our i693 medical envelopes.

The officer was so nice and we chatted about Ireland and even rugby as he is a fan and my son used to play back home.

At the end he leafed through our photos and asked who folks were and where they were taken, at one point laughing at my hubby in a kilt on St Patrick's day in Dublin.

At the end we received a notice saying a decision could not be made today, I asked him if there was any further info he needed, he said no, we only got that response as he has not reviewed the medical info and looked through the evidence we'd just handed over. He said we should hear in "about a week or two". He did say everything was positive and not to worry.

We shook hands and he walked us to the door, saying he wished all interviews were as pleasant as ours and he enjoyed talking with us.

Then we headed to the claddagh Irish pub for some food. I think I'm starting to come down now and may have a drinkie!

Daveyjoe! Have you emerged yet from the Land of Deferred Dreams?! You left us all on a cliffhanger yesterday afternoon...

It sounds like you've had two asshats serving as your lawyers; sorry to hear that. However, my guess is that you will not be denied for lacking an original document at the time of interview, but, more likely, will have the decision deferred until the original document (and translation) can be submitted for review. Which SUCKS, but I think is relatively common (re: not getting an on-the-spot approval).

I don't think you can be penalized for not having 2016 W-2. Again, that may be something you need to submit for review after the interview.

Please let us know any updates...we're here for you.

Good to hear from you, Msmontader! We were wondering where you had gone...totally understand getting lost in the coursework. I just finished a master's degree myself in Dec 2015 while working full-time. IT'S A BLACK HOLE!!! Still, it's good to hear that you're still active on the forum. Hang in there. Your case may be delayed due to this completely unethical EO, but I believe that the American people are not going to allow this to stand. It WILL get better.

In the meantime, your VJ family is here for you. I check this forum all the time and I know others do, too.

Goodluck you all with the interviews today!!! Don't be nervous! As long as your marriage is legit I am sure theres nothing to be worried about! Just be yourself. Don't tell anything that's not asked for and show them the love! :)

And I hope you will clear the background checks soon linyahui! And that the waiver stays giving you a nice surprise in the mailbox soon-> the GC ^^

And I MIGHT be able to come to New York as well but really depends on my training... I should be graduating early may if all is fine. But even then its not sure if the other training is straight after or if i get to go home for 1-2 weeks (my home is in Rhode Island... not too far from NYC ^^)

Yassss!!! Talk about it soon once this interview is sorted out. I am wondering myself how did daveyjoe!'s interview went - I believe that the 'worse' case would be an RFE and it's something that you can provide evidence for. Hope to hear from him soon.

meanwhile, we are bringing a new set of medical on our interview but wasnt able to ask MD if they included lab reports for gonorrheA. They gave us a copy with remarks 'negative' but I wasnt sure if lab reports should and was included inside sealed envelope. Saw another member in another forum getting RFE for missing lab reports- and accd to uscis
Website, include lab reports. Called doctor and said, they will include only if tested positive- so what is the deal.

Can anyone please clarify??

Thank you!
