Guys, I need some advice about whether or not I should include certain things in our extra info when interview day comes.

To make a long story short, ive had two miscarriages in the past year. And I have medical documentation of both. I know it's morbid, but I also feel showing this proof versus just our words would maybe let them see we are actively trying to have a child versus not, Opinions?

First, I'm sorry about your miscarriages. I hope you have the support you need!

Second, they have no business in your bedroom business. You can be in a committed relationship without ever even trying to have children.

So with that in mind, I would probably not bring it. I understand the reasoning that active trying to have child despite difficulties = clearly committed marriage, but I don't think it's the kind of evidence they want or need. I think they only have to tick standardized boxes like joint taxes, joint bank accounts, car and health insurance, that sort of things.

I'm glad to see there's been application movement for the March filers!

Also re: stop and frisk of "apparent immigrants" for their immigration status is so disrespectful. I read about it in the news too. Not even sure it's legal.

Met: June 2004

Thanks, Ninahi. I am lucky in that I do have an excellent spouse in that sense, we have been each other's support during those hard patches. I asked also because of our cultural considerations, kids usually come along fairly quickly and I'm going to assume the IOs know this. I suppose if it did get mentioned, we can just explain the issues. I was not a fan of bringing them unless it could help, due to the emotional impact it could have on me.

I've heard that several real immigration raids happened today in some parts of South Cali. I can't comment on if ICE stops a person, but a common cop, I am 99% sure it is illegal in most states to ask for 'papers' except in Arizona, with their oddball laws.

Hope those of us still waiting are holding up well. Any day now!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had to go through this, Sparkles. It's none of my business, but I hope you don't mind if I share that I have friends who have had miscarriages (one friend had several) and then went on to have healthy, beautiful children. I'm so glad to hear that your hubby has been an excellent source of support; that's so important!!

I agree with Ninahi that you shouldn't feel the need to share this with USCIS unless asked directly. I also agree with Ninahi that it's no business of theirs whether or not a couple decides to have children--that shouldn't be evidence of a bona fide marriage. I think it comes down to your comfort level, but you definitely shouldn't feel the need to share if it would be hard for you.

Last night when Hubby and I checked the mailbox, we nearly had a collective freak-out when we spotted an envelope from USCIS. Could it be an interview notice, a potential interview waiver, or even the coveted Green Card???

Nay. It was not any of those things. BUT, it was a notice informing us that Hubby doesn't have to redo his biometrics for the renewal of his EAD. At least this means that his work authorization renewal IS moving forward and that, hopefully, this will nudge a USCIS adjudicator to look back at his application in the next few weeks.

Fingers crossed.

I am sorry to hear about what you been through. Must be tough for you two. I would agree with Ninahi and Linyahui to not bring it up. However, as a back up plan, I would suggest you bring those documents with you. In case, they doubt your marriage, you can show them. Also given the fact that ICE visited your home, better be careful than sorry. And by the way, why did ICE visit your home? Do they usually do random visits like that?

No it was because my husband overstayed a visa and got put into removal. They came to basically get us to start working that out since it required fingerprints and signatures, it wasn't a bad experience but not one I want to repeat either. We have had the removal proceedings terminated since last year :)

"A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor."

I received an email with USCIS' reply to our service request filed January 4. (Actually, the Tier 2 with whom I spoke late last month told us it wasn't filed until January 19 in their system, yet according to my records and our account on USCIS' website, it was on Jan. 4).

I digress.

The response was, yet again, the typical "due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in processing your case." This leads me to the following questions/observations:

1. If this is the case, why did the Tier 2 tell us my husband is still undergoing security checks? Why wouldn't the USCIS response to my service request indicate that, too?

2. If this is the case, why are other couples in in the Twin Cities getting their GCs when filing after us?

3. Does this mean that the backup is occurring at the NBC or our local office?

4. We're definitely keeping our INFOPASS appointment, which is scheduled for Feb. 22. What questions should we ask to figure out why the bleep we're not getting any answers, despite Tier 2 convos, congressional inquiries, service requests, etc. etc.?

Appreciate the help!

I think you are all good. Case tracker only shows the latest update.

How long did it take from the interview day to the day you received the notifications?

It took 6 days to get case approval update on online status and got case approval notification paper in mailbox 10 days after interview.

Now waiting for Card. But I don't know how long it takes to receive the card. Anybody knows?

It all depends. Sometimes you get it quick, sometimes not... mine took a while because something went wrong with the first card that was made... because my name was long or something... i think it took 3 weeks or so for me to finally get a card ><

I made an infopoint when it took forever and she told us the first card was bad... and she got me a stamp in my passport to use until i get my card since she didnt know how long it would be (if they succeed 2nd try or even need a 3rd, 4th....)

People in this forum usually received their cards within 7 days. USCIS mails out cards using Priority 2-day, so you will receive yours this week.

I have a stupid question. When you go to an interview, and the officer hands you the decision letter saying that "Your application has been recommended for approval..." Does it mean they approve you on the spot? I am confused because I think if you are approved on the spot, it should say something like "You application has been approved..."

3/16/2016 AOS packet sent

3/19/2016 Packet delivered at Chicago Lockbox

3/29/2016 NOAs received via SMS

4/1/2016 NOAs received via mail

4/9/2016 Biometrics letter received

4/21/2016 Biometrics done

5/30/2016 Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview

6/10/2016 EAD was being produced

6/14/2016 EAD was mailed to me

6/16/2016 EAD was delivered

I never had an interview so cant say for sure. But logic would be that the interview got approved but they still gotta check something thats not related to the interview... thats what i would think...

Yes you're approved on the spot.    But the interviewer (or whoever is going to process the paperwork) still needs to do some formal processing, ticking boxes, pushing buttons, sending the official notice via the mail etc.   That is how our interviewer explained it.    He was very clear that we were approved on the spot - and he would be doing the paperwork by end of day.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
