Hi, this is giving me an anxiety attack, is anyone who finished the interview and got approved with an expired medical exam? I was approved on spot during my interview and I brought my updated medical exam to the interview. However I was stupid enough and forget to hand in the new medical exam to the IO(my old one expired in mid-Jan this year). After the interview we found out we were approved from the case tracker. But I'm afraid they would give us an REF.:( It was suppose to be a big day for us but now I can't stop worrying about this

Just relax and wait and see if it updates to card produced. If it does not, and you do get an RFE send it asap and follow up with a congressional inquiry. Or you can make an infopass and explain.

Thanks for your reply. Our case was updated to Card is being produced soon after the interview. I'm just worried about whether they would change it back to REF.

Thanks for the update sparkles. Im glad that they are not extending their cruelty to affect people in the AOS process.

Luckycloud- As far as i have read among experiences in forums is that they send in an RFE. I guess just wait for it. I have read someone asked for a pass slip from the officer to go home and pick up the missing document and was back in 30 mins just to comply asap with the RFE LOL. Our medical exam expires day after our scheduled interview but we intend to do a new one to be on the safe side and hopefully not forget to hand it in! Goodluck!

By the way what is your local office? On the other hand they might just not need a new medical from you! And that would be great news, im leaning towards you looking forward to the gc soon and forget about the medical ?

Speaking of those medicals. There is only ONE civil surgeon in my county and they have a monopoly on things. Quoted me 500 bucks. LOL *crying tears*

I know there is a separate forum, but @newyorkaos and other NYC-ers where did you go to do your medical and how much did it cost y'all! I gotta schedule that for this coming week!

Thanks!

I went to one close to Elmhurst Hospital. Kind of a shady looking place but def legit civil surgeon. Went there twice already and notice that a lot of ppl go to her for immigration and so far good and knows what she is doing. I think 150 if im not mistaken. Ill confirm and let you know later. You can look up online and narrow the closest one to you. It shouldnt cost more than 150.

sparkles-ridic for 500!!!!

Thank you for your replies. I've seen few people who got approved with expired medical exam, but most of them were asked to submit a new one. I kept reminding myself in the past few days to bring the updated medical exam, can't forgive myself for forgetting to turn it in during the interview.

See it this way. If you do get an RFE, it is the easiest one you could ask for. Guaranteed approval when it is received and processed in versus other types of RFEs :) Just seeing the positives!

As I had mentioned before our interview is at 2:15PM on February 23rd.

OF COURSE the interview comes at the worst moment, when both of us are unemployed. - What are some things we can do to mitigate the damage this will do to our consideration? Should I be freaking out should we not be able to find jobs prior? The past 2 years have been very rough for my work situation as my freelancing took a downward turn. Over the past 5 months I've been interviewing and applying like crazy but having not so good luck. Any thoughts or advice?

-- Nothing quite like adding the threat of your spouse's deportation to add to the already anxiety-ridden stakes of unemployment to REALLY test the strength of your anti-depressants, am I right? --

We weren't asked too many details about our work and salary in the interview.

the officer just asked what type of work we did - husband is a financial consultant and I'm an engineer. I had brought pay stubs, tax documents, but he didn't ask for any of those and I just brought them back home.

As far as money, he only asked us about a transaction on our bank statement (which was the proof of joint account) of $10k. We explained what that was all about, and he said "the reason I'm asking about this is because in some cases the international family will pay the U.S. Citizen to get the G.C. for their daughter, but I see this is not the case."

The only thing I can think of, is we submitted his job offer letter, pay stubs and last 3 years tax info with the original application.

I hope this helps you somehow, as I believe the purpose of the interview is determining that you are a bonafide marriage, more than analyzing your financial situation.

Just thinking out loud here, trying to help ease your mind... Another thing you could do is sign up for Uber and/or Lyft, which doesn't take more than a couple days. It wouldn't officially show any income yet, but it's something you could mention you're doing to show you that you are trying. But again, that would be something to have on your sleeve.
