Is there anyone in the forum who’s applying for K1 right now? I’d like to get in touch with someone but it seems like most couples here applied for IR1/CR1 ☺️

I'm K-1 (for the moment, due to job and life changes from Covid-19 I may be the one immigrating instead)! What do you need?

Welcome to the eternal uncertain wait time, haha 💀

I'm K1. I had the interview in March, right when the travel ban came, and am still waiting for the visa to be issued. But maybe you meant someone who's sending in their application now...?

Thank you for responding!
I was just trying to find someone who’s at the same place timeline wise as we are.

We got our NOA2 on March 25th.

We're K1. Helsinki Consulate got the visa packet this week. Our NOA2 was end of August.

Is the consult open in Finland yet?

Not for us. I was surprised that they requested the file from NVC though. We got the standard National Interest Exception spiel when they got it. But it's all now a waiting game.

Someone who can relate to scheduling the interviews in the current situation?
we got DQ yesterday, just wondering how long will it take to schedule an appointment?

Unfortunately, yes. Talked to the embassy in Sweden, see what they said here: “

Not good news. They’re currently booking late-spring/June. We might be here ‘till 2021.

We were DQd in May. We were notified of the interview on 23 July...it was scheduled for a month later, on 21 August. When we received the notice of the interview appointment, were also notified that our case (as with many others over the summer) was "expedited", without having submitted a request.

So timeline for us, DQ to interview, was 3 months.

Can you tell me how was the interview?

I actually wrote about my husband's interview in this thread on 21 August:

There were a few of us who had interviews in August -- if you search through the thread, you'll find those of us who shared our interview experiences. I believe another one was posted about his interview on 18 August.

My husband's case was in administrative processing for 6 weeks following his interview before his visa was issued. He received his passport back this week, with his visa.

Our status just changed to DQ this last week.  I am confused about the next step.  If we do not request an expedite, how long can we expect to wait before the interview would be scheduled?  (My husband is Finnish but he is living in Sweden so it will be sent to the consulate in Stockholm.)  I have heard it could be 6 - 8 months.  Does it mean that we will keep getting bumped back if everyone else is requesting an expedite?  What are valid reasons to expedite?   Thank you!

I just checked our status on the NVC site this morning and it shows the documents are back into an "incomplete" status but there is no new messages.  Does that mean they have taken it out of the DQ status and we have another snafu?  Has anyone else experienced this?

Does it state which documents (I-864/financial documents or civil documents) are incomplete? Are there any documents that you may have updated recently, but not submitted? Either way, you could contact NVC
For us, after the interview, we noticed that 2 of our documents were 'Rejected'. We were not notified by any message about this status change -- so we were unsure at what point they were actually 'Rejected'. We assume that it was following the interview. This was probably what needed to be verified during our Administrative Processing, but who knows. My husband's visa has now been issued, yet the document statuses remain 'Rejected'. Not sure if that helps. Again, if it were me, I would contact NVC

Regarding your original question from last week about requesting an expedite -- many of us, as you may find from reading past posts, were notified that our cases were expedited, without having applied. In our personal case, we did not apply for an expedite, but as mentioned before, it was 3 months to the day between DQ (21 May) to interview (21 Aug).

Good luck!

K1 here. We got our NOA2 at the end of last year and because of my fiancé’s work and Corona, never had time to schedule the interview. We have been extending the NOA2 twice already this year and were “up for” another extension next week. However, this time the answer from the embassy was different. Maybe it helps someone else who’s also K1 and waiting for the embassy to reopen 😊

This is the reply I got this time:

“NOTE: Per new guidelines, the I-129F petition remains valid and can be re-validated at the time of applicant´s interview. We are unable to provide a specific date for when the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm will resume K-1 visa services, or when the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm will return to processing at pre-COVID workload levels, but please be assured that we will resume K-1 visa services as soon as possible while complying with operational and travel regulations and restrictions.

We strongly encourage applicants to monitor our website regularly for the latest information about the Embassy’s operating status and any further updates: https://se.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/ “

Meaning, there is no longer any need to send in new evidence and ask for an extension, have you already gotten your NOA2.
