The interview is for the applicant.

I suppose you could ask the Embassy whether it's possible for a spouse to attend...

I am the petitioner and while I was present at the Embassy for my husband's interview, I remained outside.

Did you ask to go inside? or it was your choice to stay outside?

I don’t think any embassies are allowing spouses inside right now with coronavirus happening, but even pre coronavirus the only one allowed inside for Stockholm is usually only the beneficiary and a certified translator if needed

I don't know what things are like during this pandemic, but normally spouses are not allowed in. However, I have seen reviews and posts by a handful of people where the US spouse called beforehand to put themselves on the list. Anybody who is not on the embassy's (security's) list will be allowed in, I guess it's a security thing that they only let people in who are "verified" beforehand, and they have to show their IDs etc. During the pandemic they're likely even less interested in letting "extra" people in.

My passport was finally returned yesterday, a week and a half from the approval. Now my flight is booked, a new job contract signed and we’re finally ready for the next chapter of our lives. I wish you all best of luck in your respective cases

We have gotten our official approval today! :) Now we wait for the passport to be returned.

In case anyone wants to know a recent timeline of the medical results: my husband had his appointment completed on Aug. 20th at the Gothenburg location. The doctor originally assured him that the results would arrive on time for our interview on the 28th, but it was delayed. There is currently a backlog for the radiologist who reads the chest x-ray results, so he/she was unable to get to it until the 28th. The clinic sent the final results on Monday, and the embassy received them this morning. The embassy emailed us to let us know and ask for another copy of the waybill (they said they never received it, but they took it from my husband? Lol). Within 3-ish hours, everything was finished and the visa was issued.

I have another question that might be specific to Norway, possibly Denmark. Have any of those who completed interview had issues with Norwegian birthcertificate not having the parents birthday or place on it?

My birthcertificate just states parentes name and in the appointment email it specifically mentioned parents day of birth and place needs to be on it.... I'm thinking maybe getting their birthcertificates as well just in case. Anyone have issues with this?

The birth certificate does not need the parents' birthday or place of birth.

The birth certificate must state the date and place of birth (of the applicant) and the names of both parents (just the names of both parents).

Your birth certificate should be the exact one listed for your country in the reciprocity list: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Norway.html

My Danish birth certificate also only lists the names of my parents and that was not an issue.

Excellent resource that link. Thanks then I should be ok, I must have misread the email. Many thanks for the quick replies 👍

I’m reading a lot of you got interviews! How? Did you all expedite? I’m on CR-1 and NVC is approved. Is there anything I can do? Or do I first have to wait for the embassy to open and then wait for them working through like 6 months of backlog?

We expedited our case! If you have any valid reasons (and proof of them), I would give it a shot. It seems like the embassy is very sympathetic during this pandemic.

Do you think there's a chance for us to get an expedite or to do something (perhaps with the help of a lawyer if it comes to that) for me to get my K1 visa issued?

I already had the interview in March and did everything I was supposed to do, but then the travel ban happened and all these months later I'm still waiting for them to issue the visa. We haven't seen each other in over a year now, and I heard a lawyer mention something about not seeing each other for a long time could count as undue hardship. Not sure if something like that could work, though. 👀

Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s much you can do. As far as I know, the embassy is still only issuing spousal visas. An expedite wouldn’t do anything except put you at the front of the line until they resume K1 services.

Well, hopefully I'm at the front of the line already since I've already had the interview. 😅

I did hear about someone commenting an immigration lawyers YouTube video that they expedited (due to stress or something on the US fiancé) and now it seems like her fiancé will be able to get his visa (he's from Poland) and even travel directly from Schengen. So I guess I'm grasping at straws here... 😇
