Hello everybody, I would like to update anyone who are interested when it comes to traveling to Norway. My wife flew from SFO to Copenhagen and then to Norway, via SAS. Upon arrival at SFO they asked for her quarantine documents from UDI. Then in Denmark, they did not check anything other than ushering her to the connecting flight. Arriving in Stavanger, Norway, she was only asked how long she was staying, and to show passport.

Regarding our interview date at the Embassy in Stockholm, we were suppose to be there August 14th. Unfortunately due to health issues, that has been postponed.

Good luck with interview and travels.

PS I did speak to the Danish Police(Border control), and they said as long as she had proof of leaving Denmark everything was ok for transit. Evidence was the boarding pass showing next flight. They like you to stay as short as possible at the airport.

@GooseHoel Thanks for the update! I am traveling a week from today to Norway and I'm getting very anxious about what my flying experience will be. I am also transiting in Copenhagen so it's nice to know that there won't be any issues there!

I can’t speak for Sweden, but I had my medical in Copenhagen this week. The whole examination took about 45 minutes, including a tetanus shot, and the X-rays (separate location in Copenhagen) took 5 minutes

Hey there -- my husband is going for his medical this week in Copenhagen.

The website for the clinic states that an applicant should "send a copy of your passport with photo, your current address and future address" -- but this was not mentioned by the clinic when the appointment was confirmed.

Is this something you did?

Cheers

I actually asked them about this on the phone as it confused me too. They said that since my application was entirely online and I provided my DS-260 barcode for the booking, I did not have to send anything before the examination

Sooo haven’t seen my wife since January now (she’s in California, I’m in Sweden). Has there been any progress on being able to travel between the two countries?

The spouse of a Swedish citizen is exempt from the travel ban (it is essential travel) -- your wife should be able to come to Sweden. I believe this has been true throughout corona-days.

There is no ban on spouses of US Citizens to enter the USA. Just bring proof of your marriage like your marriage certificate. Also she can visit you in Sweden, spouses of Swedish citizens are not banned either. Read here all the details on the entry ban.

https://www.government.se/articles/2020/04/faqs--entry-to-the-eu-via-sweden-banned/

It says here:

What applies for family members of Swedish citizens?

Some family members of Swedish citizens are exempt from the entry ban. This may include, for example, spouses, cohabiting partners and children.

There are currently no plans to introduce a special exemption for people in a relationship (for example, boyfriend/girlfriend) with someone living in Sweden. However, the Government is keeping the issue under review.

Does anyone know how long the medical in either Stockholm or Gothenburg takes? I was wanting to know so I know when to book return train tickets times. Thanks so much in advance 😊

We were in Stockholm for the medical and managed to get it done in less than 2 hours, but it was very tight. X-ray & blood test is at the near by hospital (10-15 minute walk)

How long can we expect the interview to take/how long should I expect my husband to be inside the embassy for his interview?

We just had out interview in July, there were only two other people in the embassy (one interview and one child passport appt) plus my husband. They wouldn't let us in earlier than 15 minutes before (we showed up an hour early and the guy told us to get a cup of coffee!). He was in there for about 1.5 hrs, but they had a fire alarm go off in the middle (?!) So that took some extra time.

So I'm not sure if you've all seen this already or not: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html

But the DS5540 is apparently blocked again and no longer needed at the interview. I emailed Stockholm embassy to ask if they still wanted us to bring it or not, they said it is no longer needed, just to keep you all updated! :)

hi,

I contacted the embassy in Los Angeles and the counselor was very nice and issue a letter for me to show at the airport that proves that my husband lives in Sweden and I'm just using CPH airport to transit. my husband lives in Malmo, so I use a train to go see him.

Wow, I wasn't aware that you could do this. Thanks!

Since there are no direct flights she will have to do a layover though. Is there any country we should avoid for that? (i.e. one which might give her trouble at the border). To me it seems like Netherlands, France, and UK are the most likely transit countries from L.A
