Good point🥴

i felt ive seen people writing about tax returns etc. But I get you. Again, thanks. Ill get in touch with whomever do the medical here in oslo, to check.

I'm sorry, I didn't see that you're in Norway, I'm on my phone and it doesn't show that info for some reason. Norway might be different than Sweden when it comes to the medical, and maybe it's easier to get an appointment there too. You can always call them and see if they need your case number just to schedule an appointment or if you can schedule one without it.

My fiance is in Norway and he got his medical done before we got the email from the embassy.  You will have to go to 2 places.  1 for blood work, urine and xrays and then another one for the actual physical.  He was able to get both on the same day since he had to travel to Oslo.  There is also fees for both places.  When we called they sent us an email explaining what to do, where to go and the fees.

Now we are waiting for his interview which is in 21 days.. :)

I know most here are K1 and not CR1 but around how long in you guys experiences does it take from NVC to interview? We are trying to think about when are the next best times to visit

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!

  • 2 weeks later...

I am in the same position, still waiting for the NOA-2 and also want to get an idea of the timeline ahead. I think it might take a maximum of 5-6 months until the interview (from the NVC stage). However, the embassy in Stockholm is more likely not experiencing the same backlog as other very busy consulates, so if we are lucky, it could go much faster (provided that the NVC process goes smoothly and all documents are correctly filed, etc.).

Any good news for you yet?

Good luck!

Hey!

Does anyone know how to arrange for the certified translation of Swedish police certificates? In Sweden, police certificates or any kind of criminal records are provided in sealed envelopes, not to be opened by the individual who requested it. Thus, only the receiving institution (in this case, the NVC/embassy) would be able to access this information. Consequently, I wonder... how can I get a translation of my police certificate if the translator cannot even open this envelope?

How did the rest of you do it?

Thank you!

I filled in an application and scanned it, sent it by email to the police, asking for a police certificate in English. It cost 180 SEK. No envelope, no translation needed. Unless you have a criminal record, they won't translate that.

The certificate comes in 5 different langues, no translation needed. I opened my certificate and brought it to the embassy for my interview, they never mentioned anything about it needed to be sealed.

Yay so happy I found this! Hello fellow Scandinavians. Quick question, I’m currently awaiting NOA2 which I’m hoping will be here any time soon. I’m really impatient and always trying to do something to speed up this process, so I already went ahead and ordered my police records and birth certificate (and both of those are obtained in English). I also ordered a copy of my vaccination card for good measure. Is there anything else I could possibly do to prepare myself for the next steps? I’ve heard NVC processing to the Stockholm embassy is rather fast so I’m hoping to just schedule my medical as soon as we have a receipt number. Any tips and info is very welcome

Have your petitioner prepare the affidavit of support for your K1 as well, that way it's all ready to go as well as get your 2 passport photos that you'll need to bring to the interview would be my suggestions

Will do. I think I threw out the remaining two passport photos from the i129f because they were horrible and I had bangs back when I got them lol so I definitely need new ones. And I’ve read up on enough stuff here to understand I’ll be needing a lot of those for the next few steps haha

My fiance has his interview in Sweden next Thursday (August 15th, yay!) But we are wondering if he has to reapply for the ESTA. He has come over to the USA three times on it, does he just need to update the information on it like normal?

May be a dumb question, sorry :)

If he gets the visa, he doesn't need ESTA.
