I had measles, mumps and rubella as a child. I'm in my late fifties now. I'll be going to the doctor in Gothenburg. Will he take my word that I've had these illnesses or will I have to take a blood test to prove it?

I believe you would either need to have verifiable medical records confirming you had those diseases, and when, OR they could do a blood panel to test your blood. My now-husband had to do something similar once he arrived to the states - he had to get one vaccine stateside, and got the rest during his medical in Gothenburg. To avoid having to redo ALL required vaccines with the US civil surgeon, they just did a blood panel to prove he'd already been vaccinated for those, which worked fine.

Oh okay, I didn’t know that the embassy is the one that gives it to you.  I’ve been researching the aos process and know we need it for that so I told my fiancé to ask since I didn’t know about the embassy part.  Thanks for the info!

If I remember correctly, my husband got a copy of his 3025 in the mail.

Håll ut, y'all.

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the K1 medical exam. I read the medical is around $400, my fiance went today and got charged $400 for the medical and $300 for the vaccines, MMR and Influenza.  Is this price consistent with other here regarding vaccination and the medical?

TIA

You get the shots where it's the cheapest (for me it was my local vårdcentral) before the medical, the medical clinic is too expensive.

In Göteborg I paid 2800kr ($300) for medical and x-rays, in 2016.

You don't get one at the embassy, you get it at the medical. From the doctor. If one asks for it, the doctor in Gbg even mails you a copy of the full medical report the same day he sends the original to the embassy, not just the DS-3025.

This isn't the case with the one in stockholm,  my fiance asked for a copy of the medical and she was only given the international vaccination certificate.  Willing on the respond from the doctors office for the DS-3025.

Unfortunately this was poor planning on our part I suppose and we didn't expect the vaccines to be double/triple the cost of outside.

The DS-3025 is the only thing you actually need, and they have to give you a copy. You ask for one at the time of the medical. It's the same at both clinics.

Hi Danes!
I  was researching on what's required for the medical (we're not that far yet at all but I like to be prepared), and noticed my husband will need to bring his military record. He is exempt from conscription, and has gotten sent 2 letters (in email) about his exemption that are from 2016; a short one, and a lengthier one explaining further reasoning. When we get to that stage, should he bring the short one, long one, or both? Will print outs of the emails be fine? Also, will they have to be accompanied with English translation? I wouldn't think so since I'm sure the doctors speak Danish, but you never know if they might want it in English as well or not for when they send the medical to the embassy?

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!

Can't answer for the medical part as military papers aren't required for medicals here at least not when I did it though we reinstated the draft after that so maybe... Anyway you'll need the English papers at the embassy.

When I read about the medical in Denmark, it's required to bring in military records (or proof of exemption from military service) to the Danish medical, since conscription in Denmark is mandatory for all men over 18 unless deemed unfit; he was deemed unfit but I'm unsure if printing out the emails he received is sufficient for his medical and whether he'd only need one or both, since they both say he is exempt but one is longer and explains why and the other is shorter and does not :)

If they want it for the medical, they must want to know WHY he was deemed unfit.

But would they want both (since they are both official government statements about it), and would prints of the emails even be sufficient? The list states, "for all male applicants: Military service record or Certificate of Unfitness for Military Service or Rejection stating grounds of disability". Would an email even be considered acceptable? They don't really look like "certificates", more like letters, and neither really goes into much detail, the overall vague reasoning is listed but not the specific problem that exempts him.

I'd contact the appropriate authorities and hear if they can give him a more official certificate (by snail mail). Perhaps they can even issue it in English.

Yeah, I get that, but I am saying they're going to want it for the interview as well. It goes in the sealed envelope.
