Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the K1 medical exam. I read the medical is around $400, my fiance went today and got charged $400 for the medical and $300 for the vaccines, MMR and Influenza.  Is this price consistent with other here regarding vaccination and the medical?

TIA

I paid roughly $367 for min back in 2015 though I am not sure about the dollar value vs the krona back then. Where did your fiance go for the medical? Gothenburg? $300 for MMR and influensa seems a bit steep. The clinic in Stockholm were really reasonable with only $30 for my tetanus shot.

My fiancé went to the doctor in Stockholm also. To be exact, the explanation was $60 for influenza, then MMR is a 3 in 1.

That is crazy. And weirdly enough MMR vaccine is not even listed on their website. So 300 minus 60 would be $240... I looked at another clinic in Stockholm and they charge $48.50 for their MMR. Insane.

My fiancé and myself is baffled about this as well.  Fiancé looked up and found out all these vaccines can be had outside for $120.  Did the doctor give you the ds-3025 form for AOS when you got to the states?

I had measles, mumps and rubella as a child. I'm in my late fifties now. I'll be going to the doctor in Gothenburg. Will he take my word that I've had these illnesses or will I have to take a blood test to prove it?

The embassy gave me a copy of it when I went to the interview. Your fiance should ask for it if she's not given one. I've heard of people even asking for a copy from the doctor during their visit but I didn't even think about it. Luckily they gave me the copy at the embassy.

That was the same thing for me. You can test for antibodies and see if you need to take a shot. But it’s cheaper to take the shot. I have figured out that vaccines are VERY important here in the US.

Oh okay, I didn’t know that the embassy is the one that gives it to you.  I’ve been researching the aos process and know we need it for that so I told my fiancé to ask since I didn’t know about the embassy part.  Thanks for the info!

Try to find medical records that prove that otherwise decide if you want to test for it or take the shots. If you decide to take the shots compare prices of the different clinic and whatever your local doctor's office offer.

I don't know if that is the standard though as I have heard of people not getting it at the embassy. But your fiance didn't receive it at the doctors office they should definitively get one or ask for one at the embassy.

Yeah I’m definitely planning to have her get it regardless.  She emailed the doctors office about it we are just waiting for their response.

If I decide to take the shots, do I need two shots then with 4 weeks apart? Or is one enough?

I have no idea. You should contact your doctor for that. I don't know how the body is affected when it is being vaccinated against something they might already have antibodies against.
