I think it varies based on the country of origin, not necessarily where your interview is being conducted. It also varies based on your medical history, such as vaccines you've already had and how long ago you had them. I'm the petitioner, but my understanding of my fiancé's experience was that vaccines were covered in detail during his medical with his doctor in Sweden (his country of origin), and it was then that he was told what was required now and what may be required once he's stateside. In his case, the hepatitis B vaccine wasn't required to enter the country; it was one that his doctor said he could take stateside.

Have you already had your medical? If not, I would wait and cover that with your doctor at that time. If you have and vaccines were not fully covered, you can follow up with the doctor's office where your medical took place.

Did Paul have to take any shots during his medical appointment? I'm prepared to have the tetanus shot but just curious if I might've missed something :)

Haven't had the medical yet. If it's required, it will take 6 months to get them all (as it's given 3 different times). And between the first vaccine and the last has to be 6 months. This is why I don't want to wait until the medical 😅 And also wouldn't want to "waste" a trip to Helsinki just for another vaccine.

I think he took the MMR. He was too late in the season for the flu shot. He said the doctor was very nice and didn't seem interested in making him get any vaccines that weren't necessary or that could be taken stateside. I suppose you could go ahead and take others before leaving Sweden; his only concern with waiting till he's stateside is the cost, but that's about it.

Is Sweden your country of origin? I don't recall any 6 month window for any vaccine, at least for my fiancé, so maybe it's different in other countries.

Because it can vary based on your medical history and where you're medical takes place, I'd suggest contacting your doctor for clarification. If you already know the office where your medical will be, preferably that doctor. Some things may not be required based on previous vaccinations (there were a couple my fiancé didn't have to take because he'd had them before within the appropriate timeframe).

Country of origin is Finland 😊 Yea, it's just with this hepatitis B (the 6 month rule).

Ah got you. Well, it may different in your case than my fiancé's since that particular vaccine happens to be one he can wait and take stateside. I'm not aware of any delay or having to take it 3 times, if he chose to take it in Sweden before leaving, but I could be wrong. I don't mean to come off passive, in case I do - I just don't want to mislead or misinform when it comes to something like medical/vaccines. :)

I'm curious about Hep B being required anywhere because the panel physicians' guide just states the MMR, TD, flu, and confirmation of varicella for adults, does it not?

3/26/18 Biometrics

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it wasn't required for my fiancé. The doctor didn't make it seem like something he needed to take right now before coming over to the states. The ones you mentioned are the ones that came up, either he had to take them or he was good because of prior vaccinations on record.

I have never had any Hepatitus *insert random letter* shots in my life and never had any issues with either medical, visa or AOS. So just like Unidentified says, it's really not needed. Not in Sweden anyway.

Just like many others I had to boost up the Tetanus vaccine though. I did it at my local clinic a couple of months in advance to get it out of the way.

I got vaccinated for Hep A & B because my job offered it for free (worked at a hospital at the time) I highly recommend it to people travelling a lot as you can get Hep A through food.

It used to be just for traveling (it was when I was growing up), but Hep A has made its way into the US food supply and is a standard vaccine for children nowadays.

Even more important to consider getting the Hep A vaccine even if it isn't required! Thanks for the info :)

Hey all. I have a question, and I could not find the answer on here anywhere with a search. Someone had asked before, but it was never answered (years ago in the original Scandinavians thread).

So my fiancé (who is Norwegian and lives in Norway) and I got the checklist from the Swedish embassy today, so went ahead and filled out his DS-160 (it did not have us pay any fees, we just printed the confirmation page at the end). After that, we went to that ustraveldocs website for Sweden, and when we were filling it out we noticed it said in several places on the application that visa documents will ONLY be mailed to addresses in Sweden. It did not even give us the option to put Norway in the address area. As far as I understand, the purpose of providing the address is so that the passport can be mailed back to you with the visa inside afterwards, so we did not want to submit it before checking on this. He sent a message to the Swedish email address thing to ask for help, but we will probably not hear back from them for a while. Does anyone know what to do about this -- just ignore it, or are we using the wrong application, etc?

Thanks! :)
