I'm a bit worried that we're going to receive an RFE when filing for AOS as Norway does not have long form birth certificates. The only official birth certificates in Norway do not include information on parents and don't look very "official". Has anyone successfully filed AOS with a Norwegian birth certificate or does anyone know of other documents I can pick up to avoid an RFE? Or anyone here file successfully with the usual Norwegian birth certificate?

I think this was mentioned at some point earlier in this thread, because I remember it was called "flerspråklig födselsattest" and had the names of the parents on it. But @Shanne should know :)

I have 1 that states both my parents names on it. When you go on the webpage for folkeregisteret, you get to choose wich form you would want ☺

Hey all! Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know Paul passed his interview last week! We haven’t sat down together to share a more detailed review of the experience, which we will before I leave, but I wanted to post something before then. His papers from the medical hadn’t arrived yet (he had it just the week before), but they told him everything else looked good and they just had to wait on that, so they went ahead and took his passport. We found out they received his papers on Tuesday so we’ve been checking the status of his case this week to find out when it’s been updated. So hopefully the visa will be on its way soon!!!

We’ve been super busy while I’ve been here doing so many things, mostly of course celebrating, so we haven’t had a chance to sit down and reply folks on here. We will be sharing more detail on our experience before I leave, particularly for our fellow Swedes :), and share some things we found interesting (FYI the American will not be allowed into the embassy with the beneficiary).

Thank you you all for your support! I can’t wait to sit back down at a computer and catch up on everyone’s statuses! I hope everyone is doing well and moving along ♥️♥️♥️

Locking forwards to hear all about how it went. My interview is scheduled for March 19 so it is getting closer. Good to know that the American wasn’t allowed in. Was a little unsure about that part.

Hello, just got our NVC case number and when I check the status it says "at the NVC". My question is if I can schedule the medical already today although I don 't have an interview date yet?

Thanks in advance!

Yes you can, and you don't need the NVC case number to schedule the medical. You will however need it on the day of the medical.

Thank you! Sweden has been so amazing and beautiful. I don’t want to leave 😬 I’m just grateful I was able to be here while he had his interview. Gothenburg is such an interesting place and Mölndal is another favorite ☺️

Yeah, we were unsure too. We kept going back and forth about what to do up until we had to leave the hotel that morning. I was able to stand in line with him (his appt was 8:30, they open at 8, we got there shortly after 7:30 and were first in line). But when they called him up to the window, that’s when we were told no. They were very nice about it; the guard actually doubled checked with some other people since I’m American before saying for sure, but I couldn’t go any further at that point. Had to take a cab back to the hotel. But it was worth it for me to me able to at least wait with him outside before he went in. It was too cold to wait outside for him.

Now that I am remembering it, I had told the embassy ahead of time that we'd both be there and I was on some sort of list. I think they might have even asked if I'd be there?  Perhaps they don't do that anymore.

Thanks for that detailed review! I sent it to my fiancé, and he found it really helpful (and of course there is less anxiety when you know what to expect)!

That makes me so happy to hear! We really wanted to give as much info as possible because before my fiancé’s interview, we did the same thing - look at as many interviews for the Stockholm Office as possible. There aren’t as many of those and not many super recent ones. We also wanted to answer the questions we had a hard time finding answers to ourselves beforehand, like whether the American can enter or not.

And yes to the anxiety thing!! Both our anxieties were super high that day and to be honest, it was not as intimidating as we had ourselves set up to expect it to be! Just be confident in your relationship and information and it will be fine! :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am up for interview march 19. Fortunately we already live in Stockholm, so we do not need to book a hotel. I have just one question. You mentioned your divorse certificate, that you have to present that. In our appointment letter they asked for 4 copies? Is it four copies of the certificates, or do they mean a copy of each certificate, since we both been married twice before? I am a litte confused about that one. How many copies did you present on top of the original?

Happy for you that every thing went so well.

Nice to hear that your experience at the embassy was good. That makes me feel a lot calmer.

Just one divorce decree for each previous marriage/divorce. You already sent copies with the i-130 application but they ask for the same thing at the interview, so bring one certified copy/original of each divorce.
