You won't need the rotavirus, meningococcal, and hep A at your age.

You will need a tetanus-diptheria (and pertussis if available in combo) booster.

You will need records of the MMR, flu in season, and TD(aP).  That TD(aP) must be within 10 years.

https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#tbl1

From my recollection, pertussis isn't commonly part of the TD vaccine in Scandinavia, but it is something you should consider getting stateside in order to protect infants who you want come into contact with.  Hep A is another you'll want to consider stateside because there have been some recent outbreaks.

Ah, gotcha. I appreciate the link, the vaccine requirement table helps a lot. I guess I'll at least get a TD booster and the flu shot then (given my medical will be before the 31st of March, which I'm hoping will be the case). I'll contact kommunen and see if they have a record of my MMR shots. Thanks so much!

Hi,

Regarding the documents needed for the k1 visa interview at the embassy in Stockholm - what needs to be originals and what is possible to send on email and print out? (besides I-134) Also, the police certificate - do someone know if they want a sealed envelope or can I open it?

Thank you!!

Everything should be original or certified copies at the interview. There's no such thing as a certified tax return transcript though, so that's obviously not necessary. :P I took it as the i-134 had to be wet signature as well, maybe they skipped that now.

My police report was opened and I had no issues.

Does anyone know if the NVC case number/Stockholm embassy case number is needed during the medical exam? I am currently waiting to recive the case number from the NVC and just realized that the medical clinic in Norway does not ask for the case number when scheduling the medical exam. But I was wondering if  anyone knows if they will need the case number while filling out the paperwork that they will send to the embassy?

Yes you will need the embassy case number at the medical. Some clinics won't ask for it when you schedule and some will but you will need it the day off your exam since that is their way of connecting it to your visa petition.

Thank you both for your input. I talked to the medical clinic in Norway today. And they said they don't need the embassy case number to do the medical in Norway :)

Hi everyone, I have a question about taxes.

My wife and I are filing taxes jointly. Should my income from Norway be included on our tax return for 2017? I arrived in the US in March and haven't had an income since. Is it true that my foreign income will be included on the tax return, but that I only have to pay taxes in my home country?

Yes, you will use the FEIE (Foreign Earned Income Exclusion - form 2555 or 2555ez if you qualify to use it) and deduct your earned income from your combined total income to figure your MFJ income tax.

Thank you for the reply. Just to make sure I am understanding this correctly - my Norwegian income will be included on the tax return, but we will not pay income taxes on it?

I filed taxes jointly with my husband in April (before I received my work permit and greencard) and mentioned nothing about anything I had earned in Sweden in 2016. 'Cause I'm a rebel like that. :P

Even if it is against the rules, I don't think it would be a big deal since you wouldn't need to pay taxes on it twice. ;)

I can't even remember what we did, but I thought 2555 was only for income earned while an LPR or USC, not before.  I could be grossly mistaken about that.

Yes, you will only report it. It is then excluded from the total income according to the instructions and you figure your tax according to the MFJ table.
