Start calling NVC in about 2-3 weeks to get your case number, you'll need it on your medical appointment. You can also book an appointment for the medical now if you wish, but remember to not do your medical too early as your visa will only be valid for 6 months from the date of your medical, not from the date of your interview. I remember that it was hard getting a medical appointment when I booked one last year so I was glad I called early. But I chose the clinic in Göteborg and it was vacation time also, so that obviously had an impact on the long wait to get an appointment.

I received my NOA2 around June 22 and the first available interview date was August 11 (the K-1 interviews are held on Thursdays, so there's only a few appointments each week).

Once your ceac status shows "ready" (you need your case number to check that status) the embassy has received your case and you can submit the DS-160.

Thank you so much for your help - I really appreciate it!! :)

You're very welcome.

After the status changes to "ready" it will only take a few days or a week for the embassy to email you the checklist of what you need to do next and what things you need to bring to the interview. The checklist was sent to my US citizen fiancé's email, so if you don't receive it to your email keep an eye on his/her email as well.

You will need a police report in English (belastningsregistret) and a personbevis in English that shows all your and your parents info, they will ask for this at the interview, those are things you can prepare beforehand too, but you also don't want them to be too old.

Your US fiancé will also have to send you the i-134 affidavit of support together with tax return transcripts, letter from employer, pay stubs etc to prove s/he can support you. The embassy took another, updated letter of intent from my fiancé as well, so have him/her send you one of those as well just to be on the safe side. Normally it's not needed though.

Hi,

Just got our NOA2 and I'm from Sweden so was thinking if any of you maybe have some advice regarding the process after NOA2 and with the embassy in Sweden?

How long from NOA2 do you think it will take to get an interview date?

Thank you :)

I had a similar time to interview. NOA2 June 14th, interview Aug 11th. I had my medical in Sthlm on July 21 (you should allow at least 14 days between medical and interview to make sure the consulate receives the medical before hand - it didn't help me but that's a different story! hahahaha).

When I called GBG they were out of appointments and I was lucky to get the one in Sthlm.. even though I had called the NVC and gotten my STK-number as soon as possible.

Good luck to you! :) and let us know if you have any more questions on your mind.

Also, very important! Don't forget to ask for a copy of the DS-3025 when you have your medical done, you will need it when you file for AOS in the US. They sometimes, or quite often actually, don't give it unless specifically asked for it.

If you have your medical done in Göteborg you can even ask for the whole, complete medical report, not just the vaccination work sheet (DS-3025). I asked for the whole thing and a copy of it was sent to my house the same day the original was sent to the embassy (after all the tests were done and checked etc). The doctor in Göteborg, Einar, is great. And the clinic is cheaper than in Sthlm too.

Gather the NVC documents sooner then later I probably lost a week trying to finalizing it when the packages could have been sent in. Everything moved a lot faster after the uscis. Make sure you get the correct birth cert we ALMOST messed that up. Its the 120 personbevis with your parents that the NVC wants.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions in the coming weeks.

They are applying for K1. They aren't sending any documents to NVC, but still a good idea to gather the documents in good time for the embassy interview which is where they will be presenting them.

OP - police certificate can take a few weeks to get.

Hi all! Just wanted to let you know that I got my ten year green card approved! I filed in October last year I think, so the timeline of one year was about right for us.Here was the list of proof I used. Some members here were concerned that it wouldn't be enough, but looks like it was! I guess it helps being from a low fraud country! :)

  • Copy of the passport of [beneficiary]
  • Copy of our driver's licenses showing same home address
  • Copy of birth certificate of our daughter
  • Copy of [beneficiary]'s health insurance card showing a joint policy.
  • Copy of utility bills, showing that we reside at the same address
  • Copy of updated life insurance form showing [beneficiary] as the sole beneficiary of [uS spouse]
  • Copy of Bank notice showing us as joint account holders
  • Copy of IRS form 1099-G showing a refund for our jointly filed taxes
  • Partial copy of IRS form 1095-B showing joint health insurance
  • Copy of the I-797 Notice of Action on the Adjustment of Status
  • Some copies of the pictures we took together and with families over the past few years

Entered on a K1 Visa, now a proud holder of a ten-year Green Card!

Hi everyone :D

My fiance and I are going through the K-1 visa process.  After 179 days of waiting, we finally got our NOA2 and just got our case number assigned at the NVC on September 22nd.  I see some have posted about the incredibly long wait for the IR1/CR1 and I just wanted to let you know that it took a good deal longer than many of us expected to get through the USCIS, so hang in there. (F)

I have a couple of Scandinavia-specific questions that I'm hoping someone could help us with:

  • My fiance is traveling to Sweden from Denmark for the interview.  Does he have to stay longer than the day of the interview?
  • Do they keep the passport?  Is the visa affixed directly in the passport or is it a separate document?
  • Is there a fee for the interview itself?

Thank you in advance!  Wishing everyone luck with their process.
