Thank you for earlier replies.

Does anyone know how long the medical exam visit in Gothenburg takes? i.e. if you need to plan to visit the clinic for a couple of days to complete the process or if it's usually enough with one day.

I am traveling from Stockholm so just trying to figure out how to book hotel tickets.

The medical itself takes an hour at the most, and then they send you straight over to the x-ray place right after. The x-rays took only a few minutes all in all.

Is ANYONE getting interviews scheduled right now? Here I thought Scandinavia had their stuff together, but other countries that had massive backlogs are completely up and running full speed.

  • 12-08-2020 - NOA1
  • 06-14-2021 - RFE
  • 07-06-2021 - NOA2
  • 08-19-2021 - Arrived at Embassy
  • 10-07-2021 - Checklist received
  • 10-21-2021 - Interview & Approval
  • 12-29-2021 - Marriage :)

AOS:

  • 01-29-2022 - Package sent to Phoenix Lockbox
  • 02-02-2022 - Credit Card Charged

It does indeed feel like we are the last train left at the station...

Not sure if it is the long Swedish Summer holiday or the Covid situation in Sweden at the start of the year or something else that has caused things to grind to a halt. Wish there was something to be done - like petition for more resources or for splitting up Sweden/Denmark/Norway processing to speed things up. But that just seems like a lost cause. What is your DQ date?

Not sure, haven't gotten around to calling NVC for a case number or anything because I know Stockholm is a year backed up. Yeah I really wish Denmark was able to do K1s he would be here already had that been the case. :(

My fiance had his a few weeks ago! He left at 4am to drive there and drove back the same day! His dad went with him, they also had lunch after the interview. Definetely was an all day fiasco but he was happy to have it done with in one shot and didnt want to pay any additional fees on top of the medical exam cost!

Ps: he really likes the gothenburg physician :)

goodluck!

Hi everyone!

Question about the interview. Does my fiance need to bring 2 copies of all documents to the interview at Stockholm or will 1 copy (that is submitted to officer) suffice?

Also, did you put your documents in a binder?

Thank you!

Shannon

Hello. The NVC sent my fiancé's K1 application to the US Embassy In Sweden on July 20,2021.

- Lawyer said we should hear about interview date from embassy first before submitting form DS-160. Different places I've read, people have said we need to complete that form first and pay a fee and then we're able to schedule an interview?? What have most people experienced/done?

-Who has received a K1 interview date recently and when was your paperwork sent to the embassy? I'm hoping we get an interview date soon but from what I'm reading we may not get one for another year?!

Any information provided would be much appreciated!! This process and waiting game has been so tough for all of us!

They don't schedule an interview for you, you do that yourself (that was at least the case pre-pandemic). The embassy will, however, send you an email with a checklist of things that need to be done. The info regarding how to schedule an interview is also in that email.

The email can be sent to either the foreigner or the US citizen. In my case it was sent to my then US citizen fiance, and then he just forwarded the email to me. So make sure BOTH of you check your emails, including spam folders etc.

My case is in transit to Stockholm. What is the consensus on completing the DS-160? Should we do it now or wait?

No point in doing it now, wait until you (or your USC fiance) receives the email/checklist from the embassy.

Quick question.. Can someone explain how to compare the timeline milestones of K1 and CR1/IR1?

Specifically, I am trying to wrap my head around what event in the K1 timeline matches the Documentarily Qualified step in CR1/IR1, where the case is waiting to be sent to embassy. Is it called the same?

Nah, there's no name for it. NVC does nothing with the approved i-129f petition other than giving it a case number. The embassy uses that case number once they receive the approved i-129f.

Okay, but when K1 applicants mention NOA2, is this the equivalent step to DQ in the CR process? Or am I getting that wrong?
