Hi!

Just wanted to come on here and say thanks to everyone who answered my questions and for supporting me and my husbands journey. I got my CR1 approved on Jan 8th and we hope to be able to travel to the US end of February.
Here is what our process looked like if anyone is interested:

Sep 21st DQed
Dec 10th Got an email that our appointment had been cancelled, and then expedited.
Dec 11th Got my interview date for Jan 8th.
Dec 17th Doctors appoint in Stockholm. Went rather smooth, but long waiting lines and took my around 4.5 hours to complete (in Stockholm you have to walk between a bunch of different buildings, some further away than others). This was also the only time sloth they had available prior to my interview date.
Jan 8th Interview. Everyone at the embassy was super kind and understanding. It was just me and one other family there so it felt really safe. All in all it took me about an hour. They did however forget to take my fingerprints so I had to go back a few hours later (no waiting needed that time which was nice). They only asked for the documents that they sent in the interview email.
Jan 13th Received my passport and immigration info

Good luck to all of you who are still in the process!! 🤞

Thank you! I’m from Sweden, I really hope the travel ban won’t affect your case, but I haven’t at least heard or read anything to that extent from the embassy or in their newsletters. When reading the forums about when other people get the interview notice, sometimes the embassy seems to schedule some before others even though someone were DQd a few days ahead of someone else. So you never know 🙏🙏 good luck to you guys.

Thank you! I hope you’re right and hopefully we’ll hear something this week coming 🤞

Last time I emailed them I asked if they were putting Danish cases “behind” others because of the entry ban and they told me no. But it’s still nagging in the back of my head and then I see that you got your interview when you DQed a week after us, and that just makes me even more worried 😅

But hopefully you’re right and we’ll hear something soon! This is why it’s so nice when people write when they DQed and get their interview because it helps us all 🤗

And if more October DQs start getting interviews I know that I have to take some action to make sure that our case has not been dropped on the floor 😂

Thank you again and very best of luck with the interview! 😊

How long does it usually take from uploading documents to DQ? Just came back from a trip to the states, it’s heartbreaking leaving my love...

Back in September it took two weeks for us from we uploaded the last documents until they DQed us, don’t know how long it’s taking them at the moment, but hopefully it’s not much longer than that 🤞

Oh I know, I cried for days when I had to leave my husband last time almost five months ago 😢 Hang in there! ❤️

Hi, this might be kind of a stupid question but for you have recently gone to a marriage greencard interview or you who will go to a interview soon, did you go to the interview yourself or is your spouse required to be there too? Just wanted to hear your experiences :)

Spouse has to be there if it's marriage based adjustment of status.

Hm, okey. I wonder if it has changed recently (maybe because of COVID?) since on the embassies website it said that only the applicant can come to the interview and not the petitioner, (and I am the petitioner in this case as his wife.). It says this under ‘immigrant visas’ on the website but doesn’t specify for specifically marriage based. Then in the email from the Stockholm embassy it says only my husbands name who is the applicant. I find it so confusing and am not sure if I should contact the embassy and so since they have already so much to do. 😕

There's a difference between visas and adjustment of status. You were talking about a greencard, not a visa, so I assumed you meant that you're already in the US adjusting your status.

Embassies don't allow spouses. USCIS requires spouses for AOS if marriage based.

Ah okay, I can see how that might have been confusing on our part :) yes we’re both in Sweden, he is a Swede and I am an American citizen. We are applying for an immigrant visa based on our marriage (I think it’s called IR1 or CR1). Thank you for your reply :)

Yeah, so just to confirm that in your case the US Citizen does not join you at the embassy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

Reading through some comments here, it seems that the only cases being sent for interviews in Stockholm are the CR/IR ones. We are waiting for the employment based IVs to start again, guess we have to wait for the PP to end.

We got our DQ November 30th, is there anyway to know where we might be in a potential queue when/if interviews for employment based opens again?
