Now there are some issues.

When I got the interview notice, it said in the email that I need to have my marriage registered here in Sweden in order for the marriage to be listed on my personbevis (I got married in the US). I called Skatteverket earlier and was told it would take 4-8 weeks to register the marriage. Since my interview is December 11th I might have to postpone my interview now (which really sucks, cause who knows maybe they’ll close again so maybe it will take much longer)

I’m going down to Skatteverket tomorrow to see if there’s any way to make it quicker....

I register my marriage in Skatteverket and went very quick like a week. Hope they can help you to process it faster :)

I found this on the Skatteverket website   -" It must appear on the certificate that the marriage ceremony is approved and registered in the country of marriage. You will send a certified copy of the certificate and cover letter with your details and contact details. The certificate does not need to be translated. If any of you have never been registered in Sweden, you should also attach a copy of your passport."

Two questions:

1. We have a certified copy of our marriage license from here in Texas.  What does it mean when it says it must be approved and registered in the country of marriage?  Is the county approval valid or is there a federal agency that has to certify this too?

2. I live in the U.S. and have never been registered in Sweden.  Does that mean I need to get a passport and register or does that just mean we are ok because my husband is registered there?

I went down to the Skatteverket office today so I can share my experience at least.

1) I think it’s enough with just the marriage certificate. That’s all I had at least. There’s a box you tick which says “marriage is registered in country of wedding” or something and the clerk asked me to tick it because I had the marriage cert.

2) I think you’re good, my wife has never been registered here either. The clerk did not ask me for any passport (probably because I’m a Swedish citizen, should be the same with your husband I guess)

I moved to the US on a K-1 and chose to register my marriage in Sweden as soon as we got married.

When I sent a letter to Skatteverket asking to have my marriage registered (this was in 2016) all I sent was a regular photo copy of my certified marriage certificate and a copy of my Swedish passport and a copy of my USC husband's passport. All three copies had to be "vidimerade", meaning we wrote on them something along the line of "I hereby swear this document is an exact copy of the original document bla bla" and then they had to be signed by two other people (signatures and contact information).

Super easy. Took about a week back then, and that was during the holidays in December too.

This was this year in April. I doubt it will really take 8 weeks but maybe it will be a good idea to reschedule. Better safe than sorry!

Not for us. I was surprised that they requested the file from NVC though. We got the standard National Interest Exception spiel when they got it. But it's all now a waiting game.

Hope you guys get it soon. We are at the beginning of the process with a NOA1. Not many Finns here so it's nice to see another couple.

Hey everyone, so fun to be part of this group!
We were DQ the 1st of October and are waiting to get an interview date (marriage/spouse green card). Anyone who knows where the Stockholm embassy is at with processing interview dates?
We are also making sure we have all the paperwork needed for the interview and we wanted to check with you guys if anyone brought or intend to bring original documents proving relationship from the I-30? Or is it more important with more current evidence (like from the last few months not included in the  I-130)? Any tips?

Hey! DQ'ed on 8th of September, still no interview date. Someone DQ'ed on 1st of September got an interview a little while ago, but I'm still waiting. You're more than welcome to write to the embassy, they'll tell you how far they are (and please post it here, I'm anxious as well, but have already written to them ;) ).

Cannot answer your other question as I have not been at interview yet.

Hi! I was also DQ'd September 8th, but still no interview. When reaching out to the embassy, they said they are working on scheduling interviews for those who were DQ'd in July. Not very helpful :) but it seems like there is some delay due to Covid etc.

We had our interview August 25 (our DQ date was in February, our original interview was April 1 but it got cancelled because of covid), my husband didn’t bring the I130 documents, he took some of the same photos from the I130 and some new ones, that was it in terms of evidence, and they barely even looked at it anyways. Everything else he brought was just the required documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, police report, etc)
