camera suggestions?

I'm in the market for a camera but only want to spend $200 tops. I had an Olympus camedia D-390 which just died on me a few days ago and I need one for a trip I'm taking in a couple of weeks. The Olympus was "ok" but the pictures weren't that detailed (I don't know how else to put it) and the time it took from taking one picture to being able to take the next was wicked long it seemed and annoying.

Any suggestions? Point and shoot is what I know how to do.

I recommend the simple point and shoot Canon A550. It has an ISO sensitivity from 80-800, shutter speed of 1/2000 s. This camera uses SD memory card, which is very fast at recording image onto. The aperture is 2.6-5.5 . This is average for most point and shoot cameras.

Canon has been in the camera business for awhile, and so I trust their experience in designing cameras. I own a Canon EOS SLR camera from them, and a Canon SD700 from them. It's all good.

I switched from Olympus to Nikon and wasn't happy. I know that much.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Check out the Fuji F30 - its small but not particularly sexy. Still its one of the best point and shoots available - digital image stabilisation and can shoot up to ISO3200 (in very low light with next to no visible noise)

That one looks awesome but it's averaging around $250 + which is a little out of my range at this point in time.

Then check out the F20 - which is the slightly older model. You can get that for $150 on amazon. Has most of the same features.

I have a Casio Exilim that I'm pretty happy with. 7.2 Mpixels, mid-$100s in price.

I'll put in another vote for the Canons, you can't go wrong with any of them. Also cnet.com as previously mentioned is a great resource.
