Hey all,

I was hoping to get some feedback and help on my pending case. Here is my progress on AOS so far:

 Filed I485 on Jan. 21

 1st NOA on Jan. 25

 RFE Request on March 5

 RFE Received on March 31

 Case Inquiry Letter Nov. 15

I'm trying to figure out why my case is taking so long, I recently filed the form for case inquiry on the USCIS website and they then sent me a letter stating "due to unrelated factors to your case expect a delay".  Is anyone else still waiting for a greencard that filed in Jan. of 2016, or has anyone else received a letter like this?? I am starting to become very frustrated as it is coming up to the one year mark and I am seeing many other cases shorter than mine becoming approved. I have tried to reach out to my State Rep. but haven't received any responses. Is there anything else I can do? I haven't even received a biometrics appointment yet, however when I called the USCIS they said sometimes they will waive it if you had your fingerprints done at the airport, and that if they do decide to do that I won't be notified. The last case update I have is the one stating on March 31 the National Benefits Center has received my RFE paperwork and will begin to work on my case again. If anyone else is going through this, or has any ideas that could help me please comment and let me know!!!

Have you tried contacting you senetors office to see if hey can get some answers for you? try A infopass?

It shouldn't be taking this long when you are not even in line for an interview.

You should have your bio and also have to redo your medical since it's no good any longer.

Sounds like some background check.

Do you have EAD/AP? Have you renewed those so you can still drive and work and travel?

Have you tried to reach out to Ombudsman? We filed our case a week after you. Early this week the Ombudsman reached out to us and the second day we got our interview scheduled.

I applied for the green card more than 5 months ago I didn't get the biometrics appointment yet I think the normal time it takes between 3 to 8 months  , I had the written drivers license test I passed it but they didn't want to give me the drivers licence they said I have to be approved in the uscis for the permanent resident I'm still waiting , I hope we get it soon

Have you contacted them about the missing bio appointment? If not then I would do that.

You shouldn't wait. The bio letter usually comes within a month you should contact them today.

And it's not to late to file for your EAD. Your GC can take up to a year or more to get so the EAD would come in handy.

I tried to contact them the other day, and they responded to me and said they are unexperienced with this kind of case and can't help me. Who was the ombudsman who helped you??

What exactly is the infopass for? I haven't tried making one, and no we don't have an EAD/AP because we didn't think we qualified.  I might have to try contacting my senetors office later today.

Thanks for all your help.

Infopass is an appointment at their office you make then you meet up and can sit down face to face and ask about your case.

Okay yeah I think it's about time you do that.

Sorry I need to correct some information. After I got my interview notice I found out that USCIS actually issued it before the Ombudsman contacted them. But you can still try to contact them. Go to their website and submit the form online and they'll reach back to you.
