Hi Cohorts!!!

I just thought I would join in to the reporting for us January submissions:

1/13/2017: Submitted to Texas Lockbox

1/20/2017: Texted message confirming NOA1, application sent to California Service Center, and checked processed

1/26/2017: Hard copy of NOA1 arrived

Pretty exciting to be moving forward after dating for over a year. Good luck to all the rest of you January applicants.

Throwing my hat into the ring...

After 7 and a half years of friendship, 2 and a half of those years dating, spending 3 months together from October 15 to January 10, and getting engaged in December, we finally got everything together and filed for the K-1 visa.

I mailed the package out yesterday, via USPS Certified Mail, return receipt requested. All we can do at this point is wait. We figured it's going to take a while.

I'm a November filer, but I thought I would introduce myself since we both have Canadian fiancés.  We sent our application on the 19th of November with an NOA1 date of November 25th, so we should be just about two months ahead of you.  Feel free to reach out via private message if you have any questions along the way. :)  We sent our application right in the midst of the November slowdown, so hopefully things will pick up and go a LOT faster for you than they have gone for us!  Best wishes. :)

I agree with this fully! As you pointed out before, people from beginning-mid November are starting to get their approvals. If you factor in the election and Christmas break that happened between filing in November and now, it's logical that things slowed down a little. But the speed is picking up again, and I'm keeping optimistic. Like you said, the wait is hard enough, and being pessimistic or shooting down peoples' hopeful attitude isn't going to make any of us feel better. We're all in this together, and that's why we joined this form - for some company and discussion with people in the same situation as us. I'm planning to just keep my hopes high, remain positive, and be excited for everyone as they start to get some progress. Good luck to you, fellow January filer :)

I am in the exact same mood ! We all know that it will takes time, we even knew that before applying, and sure it will be hard to wait for all of us, BUT we have to be positive and keep our minds optimistic, it's the best way to be serene during the process ! There was a delay because of elections and Christmas holidays, now we have to hope that everything will be okay and comes in time ! :D

Being pessimistic is the worst thing to do right now, for sure ! ;)

I am not sure if they proceed the packages in the right order.. By the way, I already applied in December, but they sent us back our package because of a problem with the fee. We just sent again the same package with the correct fee, so maybe it was faster for them to check !

I am sure you will receive your NOA1 this week ! :)

Everyone seems to be sending their I-129F applications via FedEx overnight! I was just going to mail it via USPS to the Dallas, TX facility for the cheapest option with delivery confirmation like recommended on http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide#proof:

Mail the I-129F Package to the USCIS

You should mail the completed form(s) to the USCIS Dallas Lockbox. Mail the package with return receipt requested / delivery confirmation. Send via USPS.

Is anyone using USPS at all? Why does it seem like everyone's sending it overnight? Just so it's faster? I'm still learning about this process but any advice would be great. Thanks!

Hi cjh,

Yes I think most use Fedex for good tracking and fast delivery. I had bad experiences with USPS in December ... read a bit back if you like ... think it's on page 7 in this tread. Think only USPS works for the Lockbox, and the other adress is for Fedex and other mail services. It's there ... https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f. Look at "Where to file"

For obvious reasons, sending express with FedEx, UPS or DHL is going to be quicker than USPS. I guess the other big thing is peace of mind; you're sending a lot of important info for a very important purpose, not to mention a check for over 500 bucks. You can track it this way and be sure it's got where you need to it to be. It's personal preference, but for me the extra outlay for shipping was just another necessary cost of getting the visa.
