Is there a certain type of NBI that she needs for the K1? She mentioned that there might be different kinds for working abroad and such.

Hi! I'm from the Philippines and it's so easy to get an NBI clearance now as long as you don't  have a hit (same full name) and if you haven't committed a crime, of course. All she has to do is create an account online at https://nbi-clearance.com by filling out a form. Once she has created an account, she can schedule an appointment at her branch of choice. She will then be given a reference number and payment instructions. Once she has paid, she can go to the branch she chose (It doesn't really matter whether she goes on the date and time she scheduled or not. She can go any day as long as she has paid.) and get her photo taken and biometrics done. Her clearance will be printed right away as long as there are no hits.

As for the clearance type, she can choose "travel" purposes when she sets up an appointment online.

The process is much faster now compared to a few years ago when people had to line up at 4 am and wait almost an entire day  to get their clearance. The last time I got mine, it only took around 20 minutes for me to get it. :D

Anyway, I hope I was able to help you. Feel free to tag me if you have any other questions. :)

I failed to mention this, so let me just follow up here as I can no longer edit my previous post.

Erase what I said about the clearance type. I just tried to schedule an appointment so I can see the purpose options.

There are 2 purpose options: "local" and "abroad". Once she chooses "abroad", a bunch of purpose detail options will appear. There seems to be no "work abroad" option so maybe she can choose "travel Singapore" instead. If her NBI clearance will be used for your K1 visa application, then she should choose "visa USA".

Here's a screenshot of the appointment page. There are 3 helpdesk numbers (indicated on the left side) she can call if she wants to know exactly what purpose detail she should choose.

I am OK with the "process" of being vetted that we all go through to get our K1 visa.

If it was too easy, it does not have value, right?  It angers me to no extent how some walk across into the USA or shipped to "Safe Cities" to instantly have citizenship status... And collect services such as free rent, food, education, legal services, cash etc., (OK, Perhaps another topic for another time or thread.)

So back to present reality 101:

I know My Fiance Grace is a nervous wreck at times, especially now she is disappointed questioning me, herself, and the system.  (As well as a lot of OFW in HK saying all this is fake, kidding her, and hard for her to save face and keep saying it will be soon.  And let's face it most of the other females are just jealous, too.) Even some in her family now thinking something is wrong too???  My family is anxious as well?  No one understands the wait period and lack of feedback we all get to a review date.  I am like approve us, give me an RFE even, I'm ready, we have proof of what's needed, I spent time with her we talk every day, etc., and we "fit the profile" to be together with no problems.

I am 55, she is 41, we want to get on with our lives together too.

That said... And realizing it's more intense as a Philippina thing.   hahahaha Drama, It's true! And I don't wanna go into Tampo either. (other Pinoy men know EXACTLY what I mean lol )  I am trying to give her assurance it is soon as others around us finally being reviewed, we should be soon!

Any advice to calm her down?  She takes this sooo personally! What do you tell others around you, and especially to your fiance, that it just takes time, please relax?

In our case i am the benefisiary and i am from the Netherlands with is a world apart from the philepines, but my fiancee and hs familly come from the phillepines. My personal experience is with there famely is that they are really close and they ask questions and talk about everything. So maby it would make both of you feel better if you get more involved with her Famely yourself. If you can go visit them and otherwise talk to them on facebook or skype, if they speak a bit of english that is, or talk to your fiance and her parents at the same timme so she can trancelate. I would ask her Father for her hand and let them ask questions to you.
We are in the same proces and my mother in law ask me and my fiancee every week how long it ill take, but it does not feel like she is questioning our relationship because she knows and talks to both of us, she does wants to know what is going on.
Another thing you can do is try to get another vacation over there wioe your waiting, and spent some time with her famely, they will stay inportent to her alos after your marryd. and will keep asking questions :P
Dont take it to personal and its a two way street you get to ask quetsions to.

Also maybe your fiance should ge on his forum there are a lot of philepinos on here and she will find some people tha relate to her situation.

Why don't you share your VJ log in to your fiance so she could explore the site her self. If it matters, I'm actually the beneficiary and I'm the one who signed up and created this profile. My fiancee just doesn't have the time read on here. But anyway pretty much all we (or most of us at least) know about the K1 process, including estimates are on here. VJ is the best resource there is on different US visas. From checking the K1 timelines I gathered that approvals could take up to 90 days but could be longer. And checking threads like this, exchanging comments, you will pick up a few things that could answer your question.

Hi, Roger! I totally understand what you mean, although I am doing a good job staying calm. I think it is best for your fiance to talk to someone who is going through the same thing, waiting for NOA2, because waiting totally sucks, especially when you just really want to be with your love. Let her know that I am more than willing to be a friend to her if she needs someone to talk to. Even though I am 2/3 her age, I am a Pinay, too, and I completely understand what she is going through. :D

Roger

This is a very common Filipino thing, everybody and anybody has an opinion about what's going on in your life! Doesn't matter if it is none of their business or they have no clue what they are talking about, they will have an opinion anyway!

No offense meant, but telling her "to relax, it just takes time" won't calm her worries at all and may just come off as you not taking her worries seriously. What she needs is actual evidence of other people who are also stuck waiting so I would suggest to have Grace read the comments on here or better yet, let her connect with other beneficiaries so she will have a support group of people who knows exactly what is going through.

PS - additional points if she can somehow tune out all the naysayers out there, friends and family included (regardless of how well meaning they are)! :)

Hey,

I'm like her too .. I'm freaking out and scared that we won't get approved even though we're real and don't have any criminal record. This is one of the toughest times in my life and I'm only 21. My fiancé Michael always tells me that we're fine and that everything will work out because there's no reason to deny our visa at the end. (My student visa got denied last year bc my fiancé was my bank sponsor and we weren't well informed ..) so to be honest, I don't know what to say or do besides telling her how much you love her and just be the stronger one right now.

I don't have contact to my dad because of my engagement and broke off the contact to the rest of his family because I couldn't handle all their negativity. No one who isn't in our situation will ever understand what we're going through and how this really works.

And I really hope at the end everything will work out for us all

I'm so sorry to hear this, I hope you're doing fine. Waiting sucks, especially when nobody around you understands and everyone else is just being negative. Our fiances are our rock, but sometimes they just can't calm us down no matter what they say or do. The best thing for us beneficiaries is to find a support group, or at least one person who is going through or has gone through the same thing we are. I have a friend who got married on a K1 visa last year, and she has been a big help to me. She's the reason I am not freaking out. I'd love to pay it forward to someone who needs some emotional support, too, so feel free to ask me questions or talk to me about your worries. I'd be happy to be a friend.

It's tough. Waiting and wondering what will happen. But one thing I know for sure is that if you truly know and love your partner, people will be able to tell, so there's no need to worry. :D

Roger

This is a stage all of us go through. There's nothing to fret. If you have a stable relationship, everything will get right eventually. Say hi to Grace from me and tell her there are people worse than her case. I'm from Iran and God knows what will happen for us in the near future. Even getting my NOA2 doesn't assure us being together in America :(. There's nothing we could do but wait. Good things come to those who wait :). Stay positive and enjoy this visa journey of yours.

I wish all of us get to be with our loved ones soon!

Thank you so much! I know everyone here is going through a tough time. It just really sucks that you have to wait so long for the petition to be approved but the interview will be a month or so after that and you just don't know what is going to happen. Maybe one officer got a really bad day and denies your visa just because he's not a good mood. And I'm happy for everyone who gets approved and their visa at the end but for some reason I'm super scared since I already had a bad experience at embassy. Good thing is we were already engaged so they already 'know' us  .. which was the reason they didn't issue my student visa though. Our mistake.

Writing that down just helped me 😇 Thank you. My NOA1 is January 23rd so I hope to hear from them in the next 1-2 weeks.

Good luck to you! I can imagine how nice it is to have someone who already went through all of this.

Thank you! We have the same NOA1 date. :D Our received date is January 19th. We're getting close! I don't expect to get a response from them in the next 1-2 weeks, though, as there are still untouched Nov and Dec cases. I do, however, hope that we get our NOA2 before the end of May.

Good luck to you as well. Do let us know when you get your NOA2 so we can all celebrate! :D
