Is it definitely a holiday for USCIS? Good Friday isn't a Federal holiday, so they may still be working.

I also work federal and neither Good Friday or Monday are holidays.

Our NOA1 dates are application received Dec 23rd and notice received Jan 5th. Keeping my fingers crossed for this week

Malen is going to the Philippines shortly for a vacation and I hope she can get her NBI Clearence while she's home. She's only going to be home for 7 days I just hope there are no issues getting it during her short stay. She had to have one to work in Singapore but I read that she cannot just renew it like before. In the Philippines it's not required to have the embassy letter like it is in Singapore is it? I hope not.

Wishing everyone speedy NOA2's!

She doesn't have a copy of her old nbi. Her agency took it and didn't give the original back. Since the system was updated after she left PI it says online that they can't renew like they used too. I don't know if that's wrong or not. Either way I'm sure it will be fine.

Is there a certain type of NBI that she needs for the K1? She mentioned that there might be different kinds for working abroad and such.

A few pointers from a December filer...

1.  After your K1 is approved by USCIS, wait 2 weeks before starting to call the National Visa Center.

2.  If you call and they say "your case has been received, but you should call back in 2 weeks for your case number".  Do not wait 2 weeks, call the very next business day, they assign case numbers quickly.

3.  After receiving your case number and you search for its status at CEAC.  Select "immigrant visa" not non immigrant.  I know this doesn't make sense since k1 isn't an immigrant visa, but the Visa Center places them in the immigrant visa category

hope this helps

I have a couple questions about this.  Is this trying to say we can fill out the online DS-160 form before the beneficiary recieves the packet from their countries embassy?  Essentially saving lots of time between case being assigned a number and beneficiary receiving the instructions from the embassy?  Anything I can do to speed the process up I'll do, but I still don't know this part of the process very well so I'm still researching and asking questions.

Also, it says using the case number to search for status at the CEAC, what status are we looking for?  Just a case number assigned status?  Then go immediately to filling out the DS-160?

Lastly, will filling out the DS-160 also mean scheduling medical and interview too?  All before the embassy send the beneficiary the paperwork?  This doesn't seem right to me because doesn't the embassy need to process the petition themselves first?  So I guess I'm wondering what affect the above quote has and what it is trying to suggest?

Just a little confused and hoping I can get some help clearing my head up :)  I'm hoping to get my NOA2 this week, so I'm really anxious and getting lots in my head right now... :P
