It was honestly much easier than I thought!

While I was waiting in line I could hear other K1s being interviewed and they had a lot of questions to answer (how did you meet, show some pictures, what are you gonna do in America).

The man that interviewed me only asked me how long we have been dating/when did we meet for the first time, and if my fiancé was studying or working (cuz I met him during and exchange semester).

Then he told me everything looked good to him and that my visa was approved!

:D congrats! How fast was it?

Have you sent them packet 3 yet?? You cannot make an interview until you send that and you receive the packet 4 email.  I have read that sometimes even when it says "ready", it doesn't necessarily mean Montreal has you in their system yet.  Packet 4 seems to usually be sent back within a day.  If it isn't, wait a few days and resend packet 3.  They will not respond to your packet 3 email until they have you in their system; I have seen that some people had to resend it few times until they got entered in their system and then received packet 4.

Hi!

Thanks for responding to my message! I haven't even received any emails regarding packet 3 from US embassy in Montreal. I guess the NVC system and Montreal system are not in sync. Will wait a couple days before hassling them.

You're welcome :) I am not sure if they send a packet 3 email but I think I saw someone here say they got one in the actual mail.  You do not have to wait for anything from them though, you can send packet 3 whenever (following the instructions I linked you to).  Just know if you don't receive a packet 4 email in a few days, you may need to resend the packet 3 email again.  I am still in the stage of waiting for NVC to receive my petition so everything I know is just based on reading others' experiences!

Anyone else waiting a long time for their case to be received by the NVC? We received our NOA2 on May 5th, but NVC still doesn't have it and it's been almost 5 weeks now. I know they say 6 weeks when you call the NVC, but I'm just wondering if other people are waiting this long also.  Thanks!

Today is my 25th day waiting for the case number from NVC. I saw people before or after our NOA2 date already have the case number with "Ready" status. What is going on with NVC lately? Did they miss a couple boxes of files and left in the corner of the mailing room?

I called so many times and they always told me they never had it. Then on day 30 (noa2 date was may 5th and day 30 june 5th)  i was just in my email and i had an email from them, when i checked it on the tracker and it said my case was created may 18th. Which is weird because they said they didn't have my file, i wonder if they are re doing their system where they are sending out emails and our files got put into the new system and it's taking time to roll out, i have no clue but by the time i got the email it was at the embassy the next day, so they obviously had had it for a while

Thank you my friend for giving me hope on this!

Wishing everyone here in VJ doesn't have to go through this rough time!

Unknown is very scary, being in the dark and not able to see where we are standing at.

Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding scheduling interview with the Embassy. I got an email a couple days ago from NVC that they sent my case to the US embassy in Montreal Canada (where I'll be applying for the visa). Two days ago I checked the visa application status on CEAC website, and it's showing my case is ready for me to schedule the interview. I filled out the DS-160 and tried to make an appointment on Canada US Embassy's website, however, it told me that my NVC case number was not activated yet.

I have not been contacted by the US Embassy in Montreal with any instructions. Does it mean they have not received my case yet? Should I expect an email from them? Why is the CEAC website telling me it's ready to schedule an interview, whereas the US Embassy website does not allow me to? Do you guys know any contact info of US Embassy in Montreal that I can reach out?

Appreciate the help!!

You will receive packet 3 at some point, but as mentioned you do not have to wait for it which might speed up the process by couple weeks. But you do need to send packet 3 otherwise you cannot schedule.
