question in the email from the nvc it says to fill out the ds 160 form the non-immigrant form, is that the right one? i thought it would be an immigrant one, or is that after he is here in the country?

also so when i check the status it says in transit and then it says

Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.

what does it mean our interview date was provided by the national visa center?

Our case status is "ready", we have sent the DS-160 and now just waiting for the embassy to contact us so we can schedule our interview :)

Did you get the "ready" status first and then fill out the DS-160 or did you fill it out first? :)

We filled it out as soon as we got our nvc case number, but did not send it until "ready"

The K-1 is a non-immigrant visa with immigrant intent. The status changes throughout the steps of the process. You apply for adjusting status after marrying the USC. While K1s are being processed by the Immigrant Visa Units of consulates, it still remains to be a nonimmigrant visa, hence the DS-160 form.
For Canada, I believe you will receive a packet 3. Hoping Canada filers here would chime in. After NOA2, process is specific to the local consulate. The steps are different for every country. I suggest checking the regional portal to get definite answers.

Good luck to all those still waiting. It is so hard to see others moving along this process while you feel left behind but do not lose hope, your time will come and it will feel so amazing :)

You are correct, it is a non-immigrant visa. You do need to fill the DS160 and only send once you get the ready status. You can find the packet 3 online if you do not have it so you can actually send that along as well. You do not need to wait for it to arrive in the mail. Then you should receive packet 4 that will tell you the next steps for scheduling medical and interview.

Yes :) they need to. I suggest they come early. I cam today at 3:30 and i was 16. Finished all at around 9.. but i can comeback later at 2pm for results. Hopefully, immunization.. there are hotels nearby, so if your girls live far, they can check in. Im staying in a mall nearby, thank God they have loads of restos and coffeeshops. Spending 5 hours here.
