I understand, but do you think self-harm scars will be a big issue?

Oh my goodness! Now I'm dreading this. I have lots of self-inflicted cuts on my arms due from when I was a rebellious high school girl. Are these scars going to ruin things for me? @_@

No sweetie. You'll be just sent to a psych eval, which is also nothing to be worried about. I was expecting that myself because of my multiple tattoos. People who admitted to drug use when they're younger went through that too. See, nothing is gonna ruin it for you as long as you don't allow it. You face it headstrong.

Thank You! I took my medical on a Monday, May 8. I got there at 4am and there's a line outside SLEC already. By 4:30, the clinic opened and started letting people in to wait inside instead. The guard checked requirements and handed a number. I was lucky #22. At 5:30am, they started calling the numbers for biometrics. After payment, I did the blood, urine, x-ray, vital stats, immunization interview and physical exam. In that order. At the immunization interview, female doctor asked for my vaccine history, which was long forgotten and i never kept the record of. But she inspected my arm, found what she was looking for and showed me my own vaccine scar. Then it was my turn to show her a scar as proof that I've had chicken pox already. She wrote down the vaccines recommended: Tdap, MMR, and Varicella. At the PE, the other female doctor asked a series of questions, didn't check private parts, just my arms and legs for cuts, pressed on my abdomen, and counted all my tattoos. I completed Day 1 checklist at 10:30am. But then i was told if i wanted to come back at 2pm in the afternoon instead for results., hell yeah. So I did. Had lunch at the mall nearby. At 1:30pm they called my name, said xray was okay, then i was sent to take the vaccines. At 3pm, they released my papers, put an slec stamp with letter "N" in my passport with the date and then handed me the medical results in a brown sealed envelope that's required at the interview. I got to keep a copy of the vaccines and xray CD. She told me the vaccine record is needed for AoS and possibly other things, so make 5 copies.

I don't think the medical is something to fear, you know. Try to avoid horror stories, it's no use. Don't go if you're feeling under the weather or stuffed up. Of course. :)

You're welcome. Yes, there's the mandatory tb skin test for the 8yo. daughter but shouldn't be something to be worrying about as well. Just the added time to complete things.

Since Tuberculin Skin Testing requires an observation period of 48-72 hours, applicants 2-14 years old are advised not to come for their medical examination on a Thursday. The clinic is closed on weekends, so the TST cannot be interpreted before it expires.

Applicants are advised return to the clinic at least an hour before the time indicated on the TST return slip, to prevent expiration of TST

Hi there, I am currently filing the DS-160, and I have a question. What did you choose when they ask "Marital Status" ?

There is no "fiancé" or "in relationship", but if we choose "single" it's a bit contradictory with the fact that we are asking for a K1 Visa :/

Your thoughts..?

Hello all!

We're long-time followers of the thread, but this is our first time posting. Just wanted to say we're another January success story to encourage you all. Our NOA received date was January 13th, and a little more than four months later my fiancé is sitting on the couch next to me here in the States! Everything went pretty smoothly until our POE, and we can't put into words how great it feels to have this part of our story behind us. Best wishes to all of you as you continue on this crazy process!

Lucky you! Same NOA1 date, but I am yet to be with my loved one -_-.

No. if you have never been married the all you need is just a line in the letter "intent to marry" . if you have been married before, you need divorce decree/certificate or your spouse death certificate.

In PH, CENOMAR is required but only for the beneficiary, if never been married. But not for the USC. This CENOMAR is a Philippines thing.

I have an uncommon question to ask... If we are not in a huge rush to go for interview, do we still need to call NVC to get a case number? We received NOA2 on May 19th- 2 weeks ago. If we don't call NVC, what happens next? Will our case get sent to Montreal, and we'll be contacted by the embassy?

If you don't call the NVC, the embassy will send an email to the U.S citizen as soon as they will receive your case, to inform you that your case reached their office.

They will also give you your new number case in the email, it's the "NVC number case". It's not a problem if you don't call the NVC, but some of us (like me) prefer to call because when you have this number you can track online if your case was forwarded or not yet ^^

I think contacting NVC to know the case number is helpful in some cases; especially to make sure that NVC assigns correct consular section. Personally, my case got assigned to a wrong consular section (and some other cases too) NVC make this error quite frequently lately. :)
