Congrats!! When did you have your medical? How was it?

Thank You! I took my medical on a Monday, May 8. I got there at 4am and there's a line outside SLEC already. By 4:30, the clinic opened and started letting people in to wait inside instead. The guard checked requirements and handed a number. I was lucky #22. At 5:30am, they started calling the numbers for biometrics. After payment, I did the blood, urine, x-ray, vital stats, immunization interview and physical exam. In that order. At the immunization interview, female doctor asked for my vaccine history, which was long forgotten and i never kept the record of. But she inspected my arm, found what she was looking for and showed me my own vaccine scar. Then it was my turn to show her a scar as proof that I've had chicken pox already. She wrote down the vaccines recommended: Tdap, MMR, and Varicella. At the PE, the other female doctor asked a series of questions, didn't check private parts, just my arms and legs for cuts, pressed on my abdomen, and counted all my tattoos. I completed Day 1 checklist at 10:30am. But then i was told if i wanted to come back at 2pm in the afternoon instead for results., hell yeah. So I did. Had lunch at the mall nearby. At 1:30pm they called my name, said xray was okay, then i was sent to take the vaccines. At 3pm, they released my papers, put an slec stamp with letter "N" in my passport with the date and then handed me the medical results in a brown sealed envelope that's required at the interview. I got to keep a copy of the vaccines and xray CD. She told me the vaccine record is needed for AoS and possibly other things, so make 5 copies.

I don't think the medical is something to fear, you know. Try to avoid horror stories, it's no use. Don't go if you're feeling under the weather or stuffed up. Of course. :)

At/after the interview do you need to surrender your passport for a period of time?

Yes - they are to issue the visa after the interview which is a sticker in the passport so they're keeping it. They told me I'll receive the passport in 5-10 days. I had the interview June 1. When I got home, I checked the NVC ceac status tracker using case number and it showed Administrative Processing. The next day June 2, status changed to Issued. I chose pickup for delivery so I am waiting for the courier to text me when it's ready.

Not sure if this is what it means, but if they put an oxygen sensor on your fingertip, it needs to have no nail polish or won't get a read or accurate read I believe.  Good Luck!!!

Wil be having my medical soon and just answered the pre registration online. There was a part about the nearest relative, i placed my fiance. However, my sister is in the US on her J1 visa which will end on Sept.? Do i need to change that part? If yes, how? I submitted it already. I hope it wont be a big deal. I was thinking i should place my fiance's name since he lives there. And my sister is there as intern only.

Good luck. Havent heard or read anything about not allowaing nail polish during medical exam. But if they check skin and nails, i think it would be better not to have any.. :)

Does anybody know what I should put on the DS-160 where it says length of stay in the US?  And do I just put any date for intended arrival?

No, don't just put any date, put a date that is roughly when you're intending to travel. You won't be held to this date however.

As far as I know there isn't a question about length of stay in the US..unless you're referring to the previous visits section?

I was going to put the end of July as the intending date.  The length of stay was under the travel section.  But when I put that he was using a k1 the question was removed.  Thank you for your reply!
