I called USCIS again this morning and tried to get to tier 2 support about the broken online checker. The woman at tier 1 was extremely rude. She said, "I can see that your received date was Jan. 31, so what do you want?". I explained that I have evidence that the online checker is broken, so I would like to speak to tier 2 to 1) report a possible issue and 2) check my case status. I am now in a callback queue, for tier 2. She said that she didn't have to transfer me to tier 2, but she would this time. Irritating people.

Please correct me if I am wrong. The next stage after NOA2, is NVC receive and that takes X amount of days for the receive to happen. The clock for X amount of days starts ticking as soon as they approve the petition, right? So if I get a letter today saying I was approved on 5/8, I am already 7 days into it?

That's correct.

After coming home from a rough day at work, all I look forward to was opening the mailbox.. Traffic was not too bad getting home, but it was a sunny and a bit chilly  because of the winds today. I opened my mail and saw only 2 prices of mail. I looked at the first one and it was junk...the second one was from the USCIS! I rushed inside my house, excited and anxious to open my mail.

APPROVED!!!!!

After 122 days after receiving a NOA 1 we got approved!

In my excitement, i tried to contact my fiancee, but she is deep asleep. She was soo disheartened and worried, but now I'm glad I can make her smile. Don't loose faith everybody,  your approval will arrive!

Congrats!!! :) Awesome.

I spoke to tier 2 and she told me that my case is not approved (per my electronic file, not the online checker) yet and that when it does get approved, it takes 20 days to get here in the mail. She said that she was not aware that the online checker was broken and that nobody has reported the issue. She said she is forwarding the information on to the training team. I asked if that meant that people are maybe not sending the approvals to the online checker and that they will be trained to do so, and she said no and didn't explain further. Then she said that they are working on November cases.

Two of the things she said are not true and one is half true. We saw people get approved on the 5th and the letter arrived in the mail on the 11th, 6 days later, so the 20 days is not true. Others have called and reported the issue, so nobody else having reported the issue is not true either. Lastly, yes they are working on November cases still (poor whoever that is), but they have also worked through most of January and are into February, which she failed to mention.

So basically, nothing accomplished. If she tells any lies at all or gives false information, then I can't trust anything she says.

I will wait and hope she was wrong about me still being in received.

Oh, and at this point, I really do hope I get an approval in the mail tomorrow, not just for the sole purpose of missing my fiancee dearly, but so that I can call USCIS back and have them explain how my case got approved and in my mailbox in less than 24 hours.

Ugh so frustrating! This makes me so angry especially as someone who has a lot of experience in a call center environment (I'm now in analytics/back office side of business), but have several years experience as supervisor in the front-end customer service side. I know that, sadly, we can't expect extraordinary customer service from our government but we should expect that at minimum they will take reports of system issues seriously.

Personally, I think what will be the most effective way to get the issue addressed is for people who received a paper NOA2 to call and reference only their NOA2 and how it's not matching what the system says. Reference how the USCIS website mentions that the tracking tool updates regularly and contact them several days after to advise it has still not updated. The reference of "other people" and mentioning this site is probably not helping much and might even just annoy the reps (not saying I agree, just my opinion based on exp. at a call center). From my experience, in order to open a "trouble ticket" for a system issue to be researched...technologies would likely need a specific example. They can't necessarily look into something just because someone says a lot of people are saying they tool is broken. Especially if the evidence being cited is "hear-say" from a third-party website. I'm not saying any of this is right, just giving my opinion of how I think they are handling these calls. It sounds like their CSR's are completely unwilling to go above and beyond their canned responses to see that this issue gets attention, but hopefully someone can get lucky with reaching a tier 2 rep who takes it seriously.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

I agree with all of what you said. I just figured it was worth a shot. Once I get my NOA2, I will call them daily until it's fixed. I will be relentless.

Wow I appreciate you calling an also letting us know. Maybe the most important thing in our lives, and it is handled by the most inept most uncaring people we can imagine. You seem to know more about how things operate at this point than those that work there do. All you said about her misinformation is true, and from what we have read on VJ we can only check the mailbox, and know it should be our time any day now.

Good Luck to us all!

Yeah definitely. I would've done the same if I were you, but I'm still way too far away from my approval to be calling yet. hehe. It definitely doesn't hurt to try because all it takes is getting lucky to reach one rep in the bunch who cares enough to look into it. I really hope you get your NOA2 soon!!

i think it is inportent to remember that in almost every company and specially big goverment companys. it can be really dificult to fix problems. and completely seperated from the fact if that is right or wrong or how it should go, you can bet that most people working at the USCIS are not in a position to do anything about it. They are not bad people just people doing there job. and having to work day in day out with a lot of unsatisfied costemers, that does not sound like a very nice job to me.
these people are not our enemy, even though it feels like that a lot of the time. I think it is inportent to remember that if you are angry , by angry at the situation, not the person delivering the news, even if that news is not true, they might not have a choice. and there just thinking about getting trough the day and going back to there famely to. most people at there job just do what they are toltr because they dont want to risk losing there job and have people depening on them. we cant blame them for that.

Agreed... it's hard when ur emotions run high but this is very accurate. They have to be very careful how they respond because all their calls are recorded.
